Be Early? Nunez is Clueless

is there an email to share concerns with the AD?

Great point.
Two questions for any sports events:
When does the garage/parking lot opens?
When is kick off time?
Answers:
You show up when the parking opens. Never show up an hour before the game. You are an idiot if you do that. A live sporting event especially our alma mater is also about reconnecting with college friends. Its unique.

Hey '17. My name is Jeff Mason and I’m an Associate AD with the Athletic Department. I’m happy to take your feedback and filter to the respective teams.

You can drop me a note at jwmason2 at uh dot edu

(Finally catching up on the board – This is an open invitation to all.)

I don’t read the board much these days but I’ve noticed a lot of shade thrown at Nuñez recently. What exactly did he do to alienate coogfans people? A lot of posters I don’t care for from the baseball forum hate him because he didn’t fire CTW. But a lot of posters I do like from the football forum seem to have turned on him as well. From my perspective he’s front and center the biggest promoter of UH Athletics. CWF isn’t riling up the fan base a la CTH, so why all the hate? I left for the rail station with about 8 minutes left in the game (with a ton of Tech fans) and waited at least 30 minutes for a train to Downtown. That’s not on Nuñez. That’s just bad MetroRail in Houston.

Some posters are angry with parking garages issues. The game was at 6pm on a Saturday. There is no excuse to complain about parking garages issues. You leave early so you can have plenty of time to tail gate. Getting caught in traffic too close to the game is on you not on our A.D.
Regarding the concessions this is on the stadium operator. The stadium operator has a contract with UH. The blame has to be directed at the stadium operator. When their contract is up I am sure they will be evaluated.

Without going back to look in multiple topics, it seems to me that a few posters make many posts repeating the same thing. Kinda like the satellite board.

Good point.

I left my hotel in Rice Village and was in the Stadium Garage in 35 minutes. Only reason it took me 10 minutes longer than it should have was because we got stuck behind the Tech Band at 45 & Cullen and at Cullen & Holman.

This isn’t like going to an Astros game or a Texans game. Go early, tailgate, support the University, enjoy some cold beverages, and you’ll be fine!

Getting out of any packed garage is always a nightmare, no matter where you are. And if you don’t want to deal with it, just sell your pass and ride on the train.

I stayed at the Hilton on campus — literally paid for with the profit from selling my parking pass — and let me tell you, it was a cluster. When I checked in, my room wasn’t ready, and I had to accept two queens instead of a king, and I’m a Hilton Diamond Member. After the game, the pathway between Cullen Hall and the library was closed, even though it had been open before the game. So I had to walk all the way around the library. The path behind it was dark, and I was almost hit by a pedicab and a golf cart doing 20 mph down the sidewalk.

Then the next morning, the buffet at Eric’s was mid at best.

NONE of this was mentioned in the so-called “Gameday Guide.” The lack of institutional control is insane — what does Nunez even do?

On a sidenote about pedicabs.

Hey Jeff, the green lot entrance off of wheeler needs to be open before the game. It was closed for the Colorado game so I went up scott from the south to get in off of Cullen for Tech. The wheeler entrance was open as an exit after the game though so thats good. Also having the other ball games on the video board is a great idea, that gets me in early so I can watch UT lose. I also got flak for my stadium seat thats less than 18 inches wide. They need to tell the folks letting us in that. Also the wifi was very poor, but I may be uninformed on how to connect to it.

Took us like 40 minutes to get out of the Blue Lot. No traffic control. Terrible!

WiFi suffers when there is a large crowd connecting.

My wifi was actually surprisingly good around Kickoff.

Thanks, Rick. Green Lot should have been open off Wheeler so I’ll pass this on to Parking & UHPD. Do you recall what time you arrived (and found it closed off)?

The seat back note was shared with the management team the night of the game and we’ll reinforce ahead of the Homecoming match-up.

I’ll add WiFi to my notes for this week’s game download.

TK - Thanks for the reply.

Were you parked north or south of Elon Street for the blue lots? Just adding details to my notes.

Blue lot turning off 45 and down Elgin was horrible. Ive been many games over the year and never have seen it that backed up. It took 30+ minutes to exit 45 and turn under the 45 and 5 overpasses to park. I am not sure if it possible to manually have officers work the lights in those areas to better manage the traffic flow.

North of Elgin by the soccer fields. It was a standstill.

Thanks for posting. Shows visually what I was trying to describe. My experience was further down towards 45.

Before kickoff people were getting out of their ubers on the feeder and just walking to the stadium. Not a great look for us

I have two small kids so coudlnt do that but saw families walking down the street under the overpasses of 45 and Spur 5.

We got to the stadium garage at 3 pm with no problem. We left the game at the 2 minute timeout in the 4th quarter. There was a delay getting out of the garage because of buses on Homan going toward the school. The buses did not appear to have people in them (could not see inside all the buses) but my suggestion would be that those buses be cleared of Holman and at their locations by halfway of the 4th quarter ending to not interfere with traffic.

Otherwise, no issues getting out of the garage.
