What years of the 90’s were those clubs around? I don’t remember those at all. Where were they located?
90’s Clubs I can think of were… #'s (still around today), Rich’s (closed and reopened several times since then under different owners), Club Some, then there were all the places in Shepherd Plaza back then 8.0, The Ballroom, Live Bait, and others I forget right now. Richmond Strip had City Streets, Blu Planet, and others.
I can’t remember if 6400 was closed by then. Sam’s Boat was always lively. Live bait, lol. Fantastic times.
6400 may have still been open early 90’s. I do remember when Sam’s Boat and Sam’s Place weren’t connected as one bar though.
Confetti in the Galleria.

I wish I was old enough to party in the 90s.
I had to frequent places like Roxy, Bayou Place, Dogwood, Stereo Live, Kung Fu Saloon, Drake etc in the late 2000s and 2010s.
Nothing in Houston topped Gilley’s in it’s heyday.
Royce “Big Daddy” Huffman drinking buddy of Dana, Kevin & Tom once starred in a Miller Lite commercial at Gilley’s, His cowboy hat is nailed to the ceiling at the White Elephant Saloon in Fort Worth, he and his sons are former TCU football players and he’s a past President of the TD Club
Roxy was going strong in the 90s too.
I loved the look of Drake, they did that one well and gave it a good vibe. Other than the looks it was pretty generic.
I mentioned it a few years back. The Pig and Whistle was the very best pub of all time. Great live bands, good drinks and great tacos cooked in the backyard. You can never beat live music. I mentioned it to TheMandell I still have CD’s and tapes that some of the 6400 and Numbers Dj’s made for me. Great stuff and it has not aged a bit. If not for a theft that occurred during some of my moves I had probably a month worth of “club” music. One of my buddys had a ton of “bootleg” live concerts on tapes and cd’s and I mean thousands, unbelievable library.
Those were the days.
Unfortunately that closed before I was 21 but the building sat there empty for years and I always liked the layout. It kinda made me think of Jabba’s Palace. It was eventually torn down and an office building was put there.
Emos Lolas
In the 90s I was super into small music venues but hated the clubs. I had a very attractive girlfriend for a while that dragged me to Hurricane Hut quite a few times though. Jaeger shots from the ice luge was a good time.
Hurricane Hut, where they would advertise drink specials until 11 but cut them off at 10.
Late 80’s-early 90’s, it’s all a blur to me now. But I remember Sam’s Place, R&R, Second Office Club, Cody’s. Wild times!
Did you have to tell me that? What a downer. Too bad, fantastic memories.
Bar Houston but that might have been the early 2000s
Of course you can’t forget Bayou City Nites in my hometown Pasadena. ![]()
Velvet Elvis.
Loved the Pig and Whistle. Saw Jessie Dayton and Carolyn Wonderland there a few times back in the day.
