The biggest difference is Keenum didn’t decide to redshirt 4 games into a season with his dad talking about transferring with the media. That’s what changed people’s opinion on King for the most part.
thats probably true… even thou the idea to redshirt from all the interviews came from the coaches
ps my whole point with this whole post…is that a ton of people here are posting that king should move to WR, and saying tune is better than king, so on and so forth.
i think tune played well for the situation he as put in…but not to the level were we start pushing a narrative that might reach king and make it an easier decision to go into the portal
I want Tune to perform great and make this a tough decision when the season ends. Competition is good for everybody.
This. No one can be 100% certain that players don’t read the boards( I mean, why not, aren’t they on every other social media outlet?), but if King does, and he’s having a bad day, he might just say “eff it, I’m gone”. That’s another reason I cringe when people tweet and contact players/recruits on social media. It’s like diarrhea of the mouth, for your keyboard. Always have to be mindful of who’s lurking and what can happen in the wrong context.
Tune missed 2 deep passes, one was against a very strong wind and one with the wind was on the money to the WR but was well defended by the UNT CB. I don’t remember Mine completeing any long pass against that wind either. Even so, Tune’s long pass against the wind was at the right length, just a bit to the inside. If the WR had cut to his left to get to the pass, he would have probably drawn a penalty on the CB who was walling him off.
“thats probably true… even thou the idea to redshirt from all the interviews came from the coaches” Pesek
I didn’t get that from the interviews I saw. I saw and heard it said that King was very upset after the Tulane game and CDH called him in on Saturday and all of his options were presented. I heard nothing saying CDH told him he should redshirt. With what his dad posted, coupled with the press conferences, I have deep suspicions that CDH called him in to tell him he was starting Tune against UNT and presented his options at that time. However, since none of us were at the meeting, all we can do is speculate based on our suspicions and opinions. That’s all any of us have.
That was what Saban thought when he benched Hurts for Tua. Hurts had already lead them to a national championship, but wasn’t cutting it that day and he turned to Tua. Coaches will play who they think gives them the best chance of winning – their jobs depend on it. It may be cold, but life isn’t always roses.
we wont know for sure, but dana holgerson had 3 interviews in the preseason where he said he wanted to redshirt as many seniors as possible, and said everyone was on the table
in kings presser, he said the idea of even redhsirting was never even contemplated by him till the meeting where it was brought up (insinuated the idea wasnt his)…
corbin said something similar in his presser…and that the entire of decision came on the weekend after the meeting
dana notes the meeting in the presser and said there might be more players who he has talked to about his option, but doesnt note them…and notes the ncaa will be mad at him for using the rule in this way…
from all the interviews… it look like it was dana’s idea but the players had to be the ones to decide for themsleves …but we wont know for sure
I hope King comes back and plays QB. I hope Tune redshirts next year and has 2 more years after that. I think King will tear it up here next year against an easier schedule and will be a high round pick.
This was discussed before the season started. I think Coach talked to King about it, not that the Kid suggested it. I think they may have agreed before it was blown out of coverage.
Bingo…this is what I have been saying.
I’m not convinced this was Holgorsen’s idea.
Understand what you are saying but I don’t think Case ever had a four game tailspin like young King just went through.
I think there was something going on, maybe coming back from the injury, maybe the new offense…I don’t know but he simply was not on all cylinders with the passing game.
I am not going to sit around and wait for King to come back. I am going to the games and rooting for Tune to come of age in this offense. He has a total of one game behind him now.
And if King does return, I will welcome him and hope he earns the starting position and is a Heisman candidate.
But frankly, I aint hearing that when his dad replies on message boards…but until we know for sure I am going to take King at his word…
Go Coogs, beat Cincy…
You know, none of you boys read the tea leaves very well.
DK’s biggest problem the last several years has been the turnover in HCs and OCs. Different system, different year. No continuity. As a result, he’s had some problems getting up to speed on Holg’s system. Well, if he stays the year, he not only gets continuity with a system, but coaches as well. If he goes to another school, he loses that security, even if FSU were to be discussed (which would also entail a change, because Briles has had to change up several things for the FSU offense).
Personally, I believe it is in DK’s best interests to stay on, get up to speed with the system, develop a longer relationship with coaching staff, give his knee a full 2 years to heal, and then he’ll be more comfortable.
Eric King tweeted one reason he wants his son to transfer is because of the sorry ass fans in Houston.
I’m paraphrasing and I can’t find the tweet but trust me on this one. Maybe some of you saw it.
While I agree that it is classless to trash a student athlete, I think Mr. King could be in for a rude awakening if he thinks fans at Florida State, LSU or anywhere else will be any less sorry-assed. Anonymous keyboard warriors trashing anyone and everyone are the sad reality of our culture now.
He lashes out because his mouth writes a lot of checks
If you’re talking about Corey Chavous, that dude had no idea what he’s talking about. If King does leave, Chavous will have just offered a lucky guess. He contradicted himself so many times on that broadcast that I finally had to mute it. I guess that’s what you get for a Facebook broadcast.
It was Chavous that made that remark. He has zero credibility but many including myself believe we’ve seen the last of King in a U of H uniform. It’s not for nothing King’s father said what he did. Something went south between King and the coach. I want to support the whole team and especially the ones who gut it out.
I dont think you can talk about the Air Force Bowl game if you didnt sit through the 38° rain that day. It was the most miserable football experience of my life. And, there were a few on this board who were so disillusioned by that performance…backed up by the UCLA loss where Keenum blew out his knee…that they were saying it might actually be better for the team that Keenum went down and Piland was getting his shot. Point being, there have always been a variety of opinions on this board - some of them less reasonable than others. Lastly, King is not Kyler Murray. He’s an exceptional talent, but Murray is faster, more accurate, more comfortable in the pocket, and a good enough athlete to play professional baseball if he chooses to. King is talented enough to make it somewhere on the field on an NFL squad, but the comparison to Kyler Murray isn’t a very good one. Murray might be a once-in-a-generation type of talent.
