Damn… if Jojo adds this to his game WATCH OUT!
Damn @RezClone… SHOTS FIRED!!!
This is ill-timed, Mr. GOODMAN. I’d avoid TJ at all costs if i were you.
ISU basketball literally just added Tamin back to its official roster today and tweeted this pic out.
Swang on 'em!!!
Idk about alligator arms lol, but no he’s not long. Tho his wingspan was measured at 6’2, which is not really particularly short for college guards either, believe it or not.
Regardless, Tamin Lipsey is an absolute baller that goes criminally underappreciated.
Tamin ranks 3rd in Big 12 history for career steals w/ 314 (137 games).
For context, Houston’s leaderboard is as follows:
Clyde Drexler - 268 (96 games [crazy rate btw])
Ken Ciolli - 234 (129 games)
Jamal Shead - 226 (138 games)
Michael Young - 215 (134 games)
He does most of his damage in this way as an off-ball free safety type and in rotation, shooting digs, springing traps, blowing up actions, etc.
Which makes his teammates defense that much better. It helps cover up any on-ball deficiencies that i know @pesik thinks we definitely have😉.
It’s a skill that is hard to quantify, but that’s a lot of steals.
If you can stomach it, at the bottom of this post you can see an example of the dreaded “Tamin plays” here. The call from the bench is to basically punt on the rebound:
- they don’t wanna risk a foul up by two.
- they want to get in postion to defend and maybe even trap or deny, depending.
- they definitely don’t want to give up a run out w/ 4.5 seconds left.
Lipsey just sees it and gets it, and he knows Jefferson is right there and gives it up all in one motion. He doesn’t wanna get tied up or travel. He processes all of this on the fly and is prepared to play it out, on script and off, either or. He’s also really the only one in this clip that isn’t asking the bench what they wanna do here, and that includes Coogs. He just knows what TJ wants and what TJ will allow him to freelance for. @IowaCoog
Instead, he’s using that time to remind Batemon to take Uzan because he wants Flem, and he’s receiving info from Jeff on what he’s gonna do and what the bench wants (not go for the rebound). He already knows this, so it’s more the former rather than the latter that is relevant to the senior guard. He knows what Heise is gonna do, that’s why they’re both out there. Toure is not, even tho he’s our best on-ball defender.
Side note: jeff backing out also has the added benefit of taking the uber aggressive and always fundamental Jojo out of the play. Something that Flemings and Jojo seem to not be thrilled with each other about. Jojo takes himself too far out and Flem buries himself too deep. No one is there on that side, and Cenac isn’t really expecting to have to box out that side as well as his own. Buchanan arguably has a shot at it too because of it.
He’s a huge addition. With 5 in 5 the new thing starting NEXT year I’m glad too.
Incredible, appears opposite of alligator arms. More like a

Cenac should’ve been pushing Lipsey out of the play…
Frosh assumed it would be a rebound at the rim & Buchanan shot a brick for the ages…
In Kansas news
Note Kansas is also been heavily tied to Trey Kaufman-Ren
Interesting notes:
-
both are technically 6th years not 5th years . TKR redshirted, Council played 2 years at juco before 3 years D1 … so they wouldn’t have qualified even if 5for5 was this year
-
Kansas only has 1 open ship… currently at 14… without an NIL work around they can only take 1 …
- Kansas fans heavily prefer TKR over Council despite council being a returning starter for them
- Good man noted Kansas would be a title contender if they land TKR
We’ll just have to beat TKR AGAIN!!!
This 6th year stuff is BS imo… 5th year, I get… seems fair for players like Lipsey & Weaver to get a 5th year since that’s the new rule.
But a 6th year just because… COME ON MAN!!!
Has Weaver gotten clearance?
That’s all he does! ![]()
0% chance he was laying up a halfway decently soft miss in that spot.
Still love ya, Blake!
I agree. It’s bad for the spirit of the game. Which i get is all but dead, but young kids deserve a chance to come in and develop. This is not just taking away rotation minutes, but ROSTER SPOTS.
I also feel like the whole point of the 5 in 5 was to do away with exactly this sort of thing.
Ditto ![]()
No, not yet ![]()
Which lawsuit is Weaver part of?
BYU’s Kohler is part of California one. Might find out if Kohler gets a temporary restraining order today or tomorrow.
The argument winning points around the country is that the NCAA’s new 5 in 5 rule doesn’t say “effective next year”.
Edit
Here are the active lawsuit status summaries:
Tennessee. The difference being the injunction was granted earlier (july 31st) and the NCAA got a stay on appeal (August 26th, i believe).
The problem is there isnt really a date right now for when the Tennessee plaintiffs (weaver) are gonna be heard again regarding that stay.
Otherwise it’s basically the same case as Indiana, i think.
Which is good. I think.
