Yeah, he has shown two years in a row he won’t fight for multiple digits win teams.
Doesn’t have to be anything crazy, but don’t roll over

Thanks!
Last year he definitely had a better argument for BYU… Y’all weren’t getting in after getting peter rolled twice by Tech this season.
Directly? Not really.
Other than he was the 2x FCS Natty Champ football coach at SDSU when TJ Otzelberger was there. And he had Otzelberger’s full respect, recommendation, and endorsement. (Which matters to a decent extent, for obvious reasons)
But equally important, Rogers played in Brookings, SD and his wife is from Mitchell, SD (where the corn palace is)
Being half Native american whose family is from western SD (unmistakably different from Brookings and Mitchell, as well as Iowa), and the other half of my family being white Iowan… I can say from experience that Mitchell and Brookings in South Dakota (really anything in SD east of Missouri River) is largely indistinguishable from (Central) Iowa in so many ways. Kind of like Southern Minnesota, eastern Nebraska, or the central corridor thru Illinois is, as well. So there is a comfort level and relavent understanding of our culture that Rogers has and it is mutual. Alongside doing more with less, and in a distinctly upper midwest context.
And finally, for some reason, Rogers has been coveting and jockeying for the ISU job for years…both he and AD Jamie Pollard revealed that after the deal was made.
I’m gonna reserve judgment until I hear about their Olive Garden situation.
This is really fascinating to me, given how firmly-entrenched Campbell seemed to be as of like ten days ago.
Wiggy says “I’m coming back!”…

Right next to every mall… lol

Yes. The answer is Yes.
Matt Campbell buys an entire page in the Des Moines Register to say thank you and goodbye to Iowa State.
What’s the general feeling among the fanbase with his departure?
He established a winning, consistently competitive team up there for a good chunk of years imo…must be hard having to turn the page, especially with the challenges of NIL/Rev Share.
Eastern New Mexico football is right there… you can go see Art Briles.
I mean, it’s a hundred miles away, but you can still see it from Lubbock… if you stand on a step stool.
Thank you for asking:
In a word, WHIRLWIND (no pun intended).
Hard to fully digest all of that happening, from initial rumor to new hire, in the span of…
What? 30 hrs max? (From the fan perspective, obviously)
Still feels a bit surreal, like there’s still hope everyone wises up and goes back to the way it was. Not as serious as mourning a real loss, but there’s some similarities if we’re being honest.
So it’s probably a lot like you expect it is.
We’re just now starting to really turn the page and move forward. It’s emotional, it’s frustrating.
…so after all that grieving and acceptance process finishes up here over the next several weeks/months…
The reality IS, and it’s not just spin, that ISU athletics going forward IS in a better place thanks to what Campbell, Otz, etc. did these last several years. Next year ISU will spend 14 million on the inaugural Jimmy Rogers football team alone. That will happen. In fact, it will likely end up actually a little higher than that which will actually end up in the fball player’s pockets next season.
For comparison…ISU is currently in the midst of the 4th season of NIL collective money being collected and distributed thru our NIL program. Doing some rough math based on what I know about ISU’s NIL efforts to this point… ISU likely was only able to be somewhere in the ballpark range of 7-9(ish) million TOTAL spread out over 3+ years combined.
This total was also split between Football, men’s basketball, women’s bball, wrestling, and likely even some non-revenue/olympic sport athletes in the AD… not just football and mbb.
So there’s legitimate reason to be optimistic.
