Big 12 Football 2025-2026

FWIW, Iowa State is ranked 14th in the AP poll… but only 31st in Sagarin, 6th in the Big 12.

So at least I’m not cherry picking stuff that makes my team look better.

For sure and again I do still look at it but I take it with a major grain of salt.

I recommend John Kurtz as well. I think he’s done a good job, especially the last couple years.

I think the Coogs and cougs keep it up this week. I don’t think Arizona does

If he was on Apple I’d listen all the time

Sagarin is terrible.

He has Iowa rated above ISU

He has Bama 19 spots higher than FSU

He has 2-2 Arkansas at #26 and Memphis at 44

He has 1-3 Florida at 17! 3-1 USF at 54

He has 1-3 Clemson ratesd higher than Syracuse

I’ll admit Utah looked “mid”. Tech’s D-Line looked anything but mid.

If you know anything about football then you also know they have a DL that rivals any other in the country. And Utah’s OL is about the same. Both of those schools have gotten the memo that what makes the top SEC and Big Ten schools great is their personnel in the trenches.

The problem is there aren’t that many top linemen around. Before they only went to a few schools, but now if you have money you can get them. Great skill players are awesome, but if that’s all you focus on you’ll get killed by Georgia or Ohio State.

SMU doesn’t have lines like Tech does. TT spent almost all their money on the DL and OL. That’s not innovative for anyone, it’s basic for those who know football. A great OL can make average skill players look great, and a great DL can make great opposing skill players look average or worse.

WF and the rest of our staff gets that, and our line play has helped our overall team get better. We’re just recruiting high school players vs. spending so much in the portal for one or two year players.

SMU bought their way into the ACC and spent a bunch of money so their first ACC team wouldn’t get killed. They didn’t have to beat anyone who finished in the Top 25 to get to the playoff. Their whole season was really smoke and mirrors running up a nice record against mid to bad ACC opponents. The only teams they played who finished in the Top 25 were the teams they lost to.

Official statement from the Utes

Translation: "The league office called me and clarified the rule that I broke and knowingly disregarded. Even though we both know I intentionally violated the injury report rule, the league let me off with a warning as yet another generous sign of good faith that we will never reciprocate, even though they graciously saved us from financial ruin despite us lashing out at them for no reason and crying about it.

Unfortunately, the Big 12 also made me put out this statement, so that I won’t be able to claim it was a mistake next time when our fans, staff, and administration inevitably claim to be victims again, even when we are in the wrong. We still will, obviously. But this statement will make us look even worse, which may, but probably won’t, affect our behavior in the future."

Yeah, I know it’s SEC shorts, but Mike Gundy and the Pac 12 make a worthwhile appearance:

That was EPIC.

Gundy is out? Just heard it and that’s a big change.
