BIG 12 FOOTBALL & HOUSTON PREDICTIONS

I hate meaningless prognostications almost as much as I hate the off-season,

That team didn’t win much anyways. Maybe subtraction is addition.

Then, the next time when the thread reads “predictions” just avoid it altogether.

We will win at least 7 graves, write it down.

FWIW, I expected UH to win two conference games last year (though I was correct in naming only one of them). I admit I never saw the Rice debacle coming. UH will be in a different position in conference play this year.

The 2024 team was not assembled by Fritz. Some players will be able to adapt to the new system; others just won’t be a good fit. I know Fritz brought a few players with him from Tulane, but I don’t know much about them. I’m particularly worried about experience within the receiving corps. One mitigating factor will be that Fritz will rely less on the passing game than any recent head coach at UH.

That is kind of a scary thought as to who the 7 will be.

You didn’t say in due time. You said bowl game this year. So if we win 5 games this year, do you you fire him because “he must win immediately”?

Ive seen many articles say we have a top 10 difficult schedule. So that would be harder than at least half of the SEC’s

Well obviously not but it depends how he looks.

5 wins will hurt our attedance immensely…

Applewhite was fired after two seasons and he had 7 wins in year one and 8 wins in year two.

I’ve heard multiple CWF interviews and he knows he is expecteded to win immediately. On the flip side, CDH was given time to rebuild and “redshirt” his first season.

We cannot afford another rebuild.

We have too much invested into the foorball season to be satisfied with a 2-5 win season.

6 wins as in 6-6 is the definition of MEDIOCRE…that’s the floor.

Then we build off of that next season, with a better recruiting class, and be in contention for a playoff spot in Year 3

Other than Utah, they are back of the top 25 schools. The Big 12 is projected to be a ONE bid league…everyone has predicted that.

Oklahoma got the benefit of the doubt because they are OU…they lost 3 games last year and barely beat UCF.

We beat a much tougher OU squad, as a G5 team

Is that a problem when you had one of the worst defenses, especially when you can bring in experienced transfers.

I think the bigger issue is seeing how the o-line is meshing and developing.

No.

So you think the Big 12 is not very good I guess.

Big 12 has a lot of good teams, just not the one or two elite every year to dominate the conference. The problem just saying that UH has a new coach so should immediately be better does not take into account that there are 11 teams (plus Baylor) on the schedule that also tried to improve over the off season. The team can be better and still not win more games than 4-6 because other teams are also trying to win and the Big 12 has a lot of teams trying to get to the top.

Almost all preseason predictions pick the Big 12 to be a one bid league…with a very outside shot of fielding 2 bids.

Furthermore, all of the Big 12 preseason top 25 schools are lower than 15, with the exception of Utah (the projected playoff squad).

Again, here is the top 25…per conference.
We were given the same treatment as when we had a few ranked schools in the AAC…the back of the top 25.

I count half the conference getting votes for the top 25. If you think only the top 15 in the country counts as good, you sound like an A&M fan. Lots of good teams not in the top 15 media darlings.

I think that Deion Sanders proved last season that the “bring in a whole bunch of experienced transfers” strategy is a tough way to win.

Bro,

Every new coach is allowed ONE “freebie” sucky season when they first arrive.

Even the great Kelvin Sampson got one.

Given that, don’t despair if Fritz gets that this year.

Pre season polls are the garbage of garbage polls. Lazy voting based on lazy to no research and barely surface knowledge of what any given team on that poll will do. Historically documented overrated teams fill that poll. Using it to further a point is inane.

The UH basketball situation that CKS walked into and the UH Football situation that CWF walked into are worlds apart.

The Basketball program was on life support…the football program has spent a decade building facilities and earned itself a P5 invite.

That sucky freebie year IS 6 wins!
We aren’t winning the conference with 6 wins.
We aren’t making the playoffs with 6 wins.

6-6 is the definition of MEDIOCRITY

CMA got fired after 7 wins and 8 wins…two seasons…that wasnt enough.

Even Applewhite got a freebie.

Point made!
