In all four seasons as Defensive Coordinator or Co-Defensive Coordinator, his units have ranked inside the Top 25 nationally in rushing yards allowed – including tops in The American in 2023 and first in the Southern Conference in 2017 – and Top 35 for total defense – including second in The American in 2022 and 2023 as well as second in the Southern Conference in 2017.

We won 4 games last year in our FIRST year in a P5 and we are a far superior squad this year with a better coach and more discipline/attitude. We will FIND a way to squeeze out wins this season but it won’t look pretty…expect ‘grind it out type’ of wins.
I think we win 6 games and make a bowl game.

I’m not ready to call the upset but IF OU takes us lightly and IF they are focused on tbeir SEC foes…we could steal one from them, similar to the UT game last season. Remember, this is a 3 loss OU squad that was in our conference last season…NOT the previous year P5 playoff squad that we had to beat as a G5 in 2016

7 wins there but even we lose one…still room for 6 wins.
I think many are looking at our schedule like we are still a G5 program…we are NOT!. These schools are our contemporaries and we only have one P2 on our schedule, and they are NOT the dominant Oklahoma we are used to!

I agree with everything, except I think that we lose to TCU. Also, P2 does not exist.

Not sure why people think we will be WORSE this season
- another year with this QB
- better coach and all the things that come along with a more disciplined focused attitude
- second year in the Big 12…we know what to expect
- more P4 depth
- catch OU after a bad year and we almost beat UT last season while they were having a playoff year
We play in the Big 12…not the SEC…not the B1G…not even the ACC.
There’s a reason we are the lowest rated conference in playoff $$$…our conference isn’t as tough as those other 3

More valuable doesn’t inherently mean tougher. The ACC is a more valuable league as long as it has Clemson/FSU but from an actual quality of play standpoint the league isn’t all that. Frankly if you took out Clemson and FSU it really wouldn’t look all that different from AAC 1.0.
I posted a few months ago that I was predicting four wins this year. Nothing has changed my mind. Too many unknowns for UH and a tough schedule. This season is all about establishing a new culture and continuity in the O, D, and ST. Let’s hope some individual stars rise to the top and shine.

Nice odds on the O4, good bet. And I agree on UNLV, just haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
Have seen new odds at O3 1/2, but heavy juice. Think I might hit that one up.

There could be many reasons. One thing to consider is with a new coach, how fast will players learn and adapt to a new system. Then how does that translate to on the field. The new coach may be better, but if the players are having to change a lot of how they do things, there may be a learning curve. Also do all the players fit the new system with their skills?
Personally, I rounded up to 6 wins (switching between 5 and 6 so went 6)
My question is why do you try to downgrade the Big 12? It is a good conference. B1G is not hard top to bottom, ACC is actually pretty easy at the bottom. I can see argument for depth at the top of the SEC.
And, as WhoWeTalkinBout said, pay is not based on how tough the conference is, just how big the fan base that watches on TV.

There’s a P2 because Every single school under the P2 would ditch their conference in a nano-second to join the SEC and B1G 10 but ZERO schools in the P2 would voluntarily drop down
In addition, the playoff committee has deemed them a P2 by 1) # of playoff spots and 2) playoff $$ representing the hierarchy of the conferences.
Unofficially, there DEFINITELY is a P2.
Because at the Start of this season, the ACC has 4-5 P2 level brands + a scheduling alliance with another, Notre Dame and their middle tier schools of Louisville and the others are comprable to the Big 12
Based on fan following yes they have bigger money followings, but that does not mean they are better on the field than the Big 12. The Big 12 has many good teams.
