BIG 12 FOOTBALL & HOUSTON PREDICTIONS

his record at Tulane indicates it may be close to a decade before we start having the kind of sucess we all want.

Really? Lol like we are just going to remove all the context on how different those situations are

That was my big concern as well when his name kept coming up.

After looking at all his stops, I am not as worried which is why I went with 6-6 for this year. It only took 5 years at Central Missouri to get to 10 wins.2 years at Sam Houston, and had 9 wins first year at Georgia Southern.

Full disclaimer in that I do not know the situation at each of those schools when he got there. I think UH is definitely better set up with facilities than Tulane. Thus I am now thinking top level in the 3-5 year range due to starting point and the current issues with transfers and money in college. (Assuming UH continues top level support - ie top level of paying when that goes into effect).

“nearly a decade” What nonsense!!! Fritz had a winning record by year 3!!! He won 12 games in year 7!

2-10 but we could be much better with that record. I would be thrilled if somehow we get to 6 wins and go bowling.

If we win six games with our schedule that will be a tremendous accomplishment. Fingers crossed

You should look at how bad Tulane was before Fritz took over. A 7 win season at Tulane is basically the equivalent of a 10 win season here. And a Cotton Bowl victory would be the rough equivalent of a national title.

Fritz can coach. We just don’t know what kind of material he has. Im going to be positive and hope for the best.

There are a lot of questions especially did we replace some of the defections from last years team.

Coach Fritz has brought in over 40 new players this year, High schoolers and transfers, to replace them, so YES, he has. Now we get to see how good our new kids are going to be.

True-he’s a good coach and has proved it. He’s got a tough road here and hopefully his past experience will help him. The thing I like about him is something the past few have lacked-a personality. He came in unknown in this town and right away got busy with the handshakes, appearances, and most of all, recruiting. The parents seem to like him (a family man) and have no problem with their kids coming here. Can’t say that about the last fruitloop we had, he got busy looking for bars while he “tanked” a full season.

I’ll be ecstatic about a five or six win finish.

I’m ordinarily the Polly Prez, but I have enough sense to know that it’s dang near impossible to win big with a new coach installing new offensive and defensive systems, a rebuilt Oline, and only two starters returning on what was already a really bad defense.

That’s not to say that we don’t have a talented starting QB and receivers returning. Of course we do. But it takes more than that.

I’d like to believe that all these newcomers arriving will be better than the previous starting talent, but as Deion Sanders discovered last year, it’s also pretty hard to win big with a brand new lineup of mostly transfers as well.

One thing is for sure. We’d better at least beat UNLV, Rice, Iowa State, and Baylor.

And if we lose to Rice, then it’s going to be a VERY long year

But as TCU and Louisville learned, in their first year with a new coach, it is possible …and yes, you can win BIG in year one.

Yeah, Fritz is coach. I wouldn’t call Sanders a coach. Not even close. Great player and tremendous motivator, but Sanders isn’t a coach imo.

Can’t speak for Louisville, but at TCU, Dykes had a much higher talent level than Fritz will get to start with.

But one can hope.

I would put the coogs down for 6 wins though, a lot of last season was on the coach and in game calls and mgt; should be a lot better now.

Ummm…I would be curious what outcomes would have changed in your opinion. At the end of the day, coaches ALL BY THEMSELVES rarely (if ever) influence outcomes of ballgames

Love the optimism but I will not be joining the bowl game polly train. 4-8 but closer losses.

Giuess we shouldn’t be paying them so much money. No reason to get veterans, experience is wasted on coaches.
I actually think the opposite, coaches affect everything in the game.

I was in the beginning and still remain a 6 win and a bowl game guy for the 2024 FB season. Based on our recruiting I believe we will improve by one additional win for 2025 and 2026 . Why you ask ? I think our Coach and several senior staff have worked together before and won’t need much time to get aligned. Plus we are going tp play a serious in your face Defense that plays through the whistle(PTTW). This will give the Offense and Special teams time to get it together. I also predict fan following will increase as we enjoy playing some of our old SWC rivals again ,along with new ones we are going to make. Call me a Polly but opposing teams are not ready for us. They do not know what we are going to throw at them. I feel good about UH Football !
Go Coogs !
