Would Stanford get full shares if they joined the Big 12?
Thatâs the tricky part for me as well.
I would only assume that ESPN/FOX would agree to renegotiate aspects of the deal for a school like Stanford and Cal. However, itâs sort of agreed that the PAC is no longer an autonomous conference even if they merge with the MWC.
I am not sure how it would work with Stanford. I donât think they would get a full share, but it would have to be a share thatâs higher than what the ACC or the B1G would offer. Stanford has some leverage as an prestigious brand, but they also do not currently have a stable home.
Itâs a tough one for Stanford.
One thing ive come to expect as the rule instead of the exception is that most PAC schools make stupid and irrational decisions, and the likelihood of stupid and irrational decisions is amplified by the academic reputation of the PAC school. So perhaps the Big 12 would take Stanford, but i have absolutely no faith that Stanford could pull its head out of its own arse enough to see the value in it.

I donât trust him but Steward Mandel says ACC has Pro-rata. If true, wouldnât dilute current member payouts.
Stanford is going to go with there buddies are, if they can ND,which is a religious school. So Stanford not wanting to be associated with religious is a farce . I think with Stanford itâs a cultural academic thing, not wanting to be associated with a Texas centric lowlife conference

Not sure theyâd be quite as OK with BYU or Baylor, but I could be wrong.

I think the problem lays on how many teams the B1G is looking to expand to when all said and done. They are already at 18, and honestly, anything over 20 is going to start resulting in a net-negative in regards to scheduling both in-conference and non-conference games.
If the B1G stops at 20 teams, then they are most likely going to prefer to grab a team from the ACC along with Notre Dame. Stanford in this case, essentially is a parasite team. UNC would be a great grab for the B1G. Even FSU would be a great grab if they get AAU membership, which they apparently expect to achieve in 5 years.
Iâm not convinced TCU would have gone to the PAC.

Either this is the truth, or Yormark is trying to make Stanford swear their butts off.
I should add that the fact that Yormark said this, we essentially are proving to the other âP2â conferences that we still are in control of our own fate. We arenât just a breadcrumb conference. Yâall can have Stanford and Cal. We donât want em!

I saw this on Twitter and started to wonder if it was like when the MAC decided not to expand and WKU and MTSU released statements about how they have always intended to stay in C-USA.

In regards to stanford, itâs 3 possible scenarios
- Stanford said No to Big 12
- Yormark genuinely doesnât see value
- Trying to bluff Stanford into a cheaper price
