ACC schools are working behind the scenes w/lawyers to get out of their ACC tv contract.
Moving Cal and Stanford to the ACC is the move for ESPN much smarter to add to the ACC “renegotiate” the current structure while throwing extra money at FSU and Clemson to simmer down and not join the massive money SEC for now.

31.7 is the share from the media rights deal. That doesn’t include the money the Big 12 will get from the College Football Playoff, the NCAA Tournament, etc. The present Big 12 media deal is worth about 230 million per year (23 million per each of 10 schools), but the total payout to the Big 12 was 44 million per school because of the CFP, Tournament, etc.

Adding Cal and Stanford to the ACC reminds me of when the Big East added SDSU and Boise St…it just didn’t seem like a good idea for an eastern based conference to go that far west.

Stan/Cal non revenue weeks on the road in Mid-Atlantic/Deep South/NE.
How else could they do it?

Theres a D3 conference that has NYC and Santa Cruz. So Bay Area in ACC is not the worst.
I don’t know…. To me every “report” is a chess move at this point regarding Stanford and Cal.
I think Yormark is trying to pressure them. The Big 12 doesn’t NEED Stanford and Cal, but they also wouldn’t be bad additions either. I think the McMurphy tweet about the Big 12 being done with expansion is just a way to apply some pressure on Stanford.
I think everyone in CFB land knows that Stanford in the ACC is a terrible move logistically, and frankly, I don’t think Stanford really wants to do that otherwise a deal would’ve already been made by now.
Stanford wants to be in the B1G, but the B1G doesn’t necessarily want them right now or ever really.
Leaves Stanford to choose between MWC or the Big 12 - and at that point we can get them at a lower share. Cal will most likely just end up following them.
It is possible that both #1 and #2 are both true…Stanford is stupid and doesnt want the Big 12, and Yormark is intelligent and doesnt want Stanford.

Yormack might not want the Cali schools bc of politics also. We have Byu which against gays so you could have stanford and cal fighting Byu etc. Still we should grab them bc it’s 2 p5s sitting there. Or grab Stanford and Oregon st vs cal.

Not sure if this has been posted, but it says that the Big 12 is not considering either Oregon State or SDSU.
Cal and Stanford could still be out there, based on some verbiage at the end. If so, then I’d only look at Stanford.

How sure are we that the ACC inviting Stanford 7 CAL will trigger something in their contracts to open up negotiations.
If not…this is a desperation play by the ACC to fortify themselves when/if they get raided.
Something the PAC should have done 6 months ago- invite 4 new members!
