Big Ten and Notre Dame want to get into state of Texas in realignment, covet TAMU

Lol

SEC goes to market in 2034 (really 2032 or sooner). Let’s see if they want to start partnering with other media outlets now that they have 2 more major brands. Hey, perhaps ESPN will be happy to give them even more by themselves.

Everything I’m speaking on is about the future, and you continue to use the present to justify your arguments.

That being said, are you really comparing the SEC to the ACC? ESPN cares about the SEC. They don’t care about the ACC (outside of 3 or 4 programs).

The SEC doesn’t need a national presence. They exist in the most dominant football region in all of America in terms of fan support, recruiting and brands from top to bottom.

How is the Big Ten a ā€œnational conferenceā€? But even if you consider them a true national conference, it’s only because they HAVE to be. The Big 12 also HAS to be a national conference to compete with the SEC who ISN’T a national conference and yet is still the strongest football conference

This board has plenty of smart people. We could create our own Swaim to make things up. Call it, ā€œPearland’s Revenge.ā€

We could focus on Aggie transfer rumors.

I can get behind this. Get Google Gemini to create an entire persona with a few dozen of Pearland’s posts. I’m thinking the end product of the Pearland’s Revenge profile pic would be similar to what you see below….

Like I said, they’ll make the same mistake you make when comparing the two

B10 doesn’t need to be a ā€œnationalā€ conference but I think they would like a presence in Texas with its huge football crazy population.

I don’t know how easy for UT or A&M to leave the SEC if B10 was interested in adding either one of them. So that leaves UH, Baylor, Texas Tech as the only other candidates. Would B10 be interested any of these 3? I don’t know.

Would any of the 3 be interested in joining the B10 if the B10 offered them lower shares but did offer what they are getting in the B12 plus a some more to cover the added travel costs?

No.

None are AAU, and none is a large enough football brand.

Not sure that matters as much if any of the 3 are willing to take lower shares permanently.

Oh it does!

Trust me.

B1G masters degree alum here (Illinois).

The AAU thing is VERY important to them, even for HALF SHARE schools like Washington and Oregon.

If the BIG wanted into Texas they would have invited UT.

…but isn’t UH closest to achieving the AAU?

Yeah.

So?

a) Are we there yet? No.

b) Even if we were, are we a big enough football brand? Again, no.

If the B1G can’t have either UT or aTm, then they won’t bother adding a Texas team.

No other brand is big enough.

@uhlaw97 is corrrect.

The only schools the Big Ten would ever bat an eye to invite would be Texas or Texas A&M, both of whom i doubt will ever leave the SEC just to be away from one another.

HOWEVER, it’s without a doubt that FOX Sports wants to get into Texas (the state) and Florida (the state) markets. Unfortunately, it’s the Big Ten’s academic integrity that will get in the way of that.

@uhlaw97

I think UH has an opportunity to become an Auburn-esque brand but with AAU.

In other words, we can escape the box that we currently reside in, but we will never be on the same level as U of Texas (U of Alabama) or Texas A&M (U of Georgia)

UT doesn’t need an invite.

UT can go wherever they want, including the Big Ten. The fact of the matter is that UT preferred the SEC.

Why not?

We are not even 100 years old yet. Texas A&M didn;'t even have women coeds at year 100

UT-Austin, Washington, and UCLA are good example of big popular public schools in big cities.

Keep growing…by our 100 year birthday, we will have grown to a University of 50,000 students with 10,000 living on campus and an endowment of $2-2.5 billion.

We need to lose this loser mentality

Texas is in a league of their even outside of football. The longhorn logo is recognizable across the world. That type of brand takes an entire century to develop.

Texas A&M has had resources and boosters over decades compared to UH.

I’m not having a loser mentality. It’s just fact. UH has to develop it’s own identity instead of constantly competing with UT and A&M. Develop our own strength. That being said, I 100% believe we can be better than Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, etc…

Just a side note, Washington and UCLA have very high out of state student populations.

That’s what I’ve been saying…target suburban kids in other states that WANT to go away to Texas for college.

It isnt ABOUT comparisons…Its about where aggie wants to be…and they want to be in the SEC…as well they should. SEC is perfect conference for them and who they are.

So important that they let Nebraska in even though they knew Nebraska was going to be kicked out of the AAU
