I really hate this stupid court. Players are slipping, falling, stepping out of bounds. Basketball shouldn’t be played on plastic. I wonder if the crazy lights are distracting to the players or are just for TV? Dumb either way. Can we just watch the game?!? New to CoogFans, first-time poster … sorry it’s a complaint. Go Coogs!
Yeah let the Big3 league have this court
Slipping, falling and stepping out of bounce happens on the reg courts too. FYI. I did see a news story about a KSU player getting a migraine from the court.
I think it does have an effect on the players in slipping and play. Yeah, guys sometimes slip on wood courts, but that is because of sweat on the court, these guys were slipping way more times just because of the glass IMHO.
They absolutely were. They couldn’t stop quickly at high speeds
I like the LED lights, they will have to improve surface.
Teams are slipping like the time we played St. Joe’s on a basketball court with a hockey rink underneath it.
In addition to the footing, there’s no way the ball bounces the same way as on normal floors.
And the out-of-bounds lines must be harder to see for the guys on the floor.
But I doubt it’s going anywhere.
Coworker and I were talking about that today.
I got no problem with the idea of the court but the colors needs to be adjusted because the contrast is very poor and it makes it harder to follow the action.
The ball did seem to bounce differently than on a wood floor. It bounced with a faster spin which is why the ball went flying out of bounds on a couple of bounce pocket passes to Jojo.
Football players have different shoes for weather conditions. Are there basketball shoes for LED courts?
I wish I was joking…
Imho, a postseason tournament with so much at stake is not the time and place to beta test a court like this. This should have been done during the early season tournaments in November and December.
I can’t believe the conference thought this would be a good idea. I can’t imagine that the coaches would support such a dramatic change to the playing surface in the conference tournament. Too many unknowns.
The refs didn’t seem to have a problem seeing the lines.
I wondered tonight if the ball is made of the same material as the court. Both teams had trouble keeping a handle on the ball.
There isn’t that much at stake, AZ is a one seed, we are a 2 seed in NCAA tournament, only thing at stake might have been an auto bid to tournament for one of the bottom feeders
why exactly would you experiment with a new floor before the big dance?
Knuckleheads
Hope there’s no serious injury
I wonder if we’ll see it again tomorrow
I originally liked the idea, but at this point pull the plug. Aside from the slipping (which is clearly a safety issue) agree with others, that dark court makes it tough to watch. No idea how long it takes to remove but they should ditch it if it’s possible.
They can’t remove it mid tournament?
According to the studies of the court, the surface has more friction/grip than a traditional court. I wonder what the conference researched to verify that independently. If they did they should confirm that publicly. But the surface is slightly different and takes some getting used to but I’m not going to lie… in all the games I’ve watched I have not seen players slip more often than they usually do. I am more aware of it because I am actively looking for it more but when I reflect on each game I’ve seen I don’t think it was really out of the ordinary.
I hope one of the basketball twitter data nerds and the B12 goes back and compiles the numbers to compare and contrast between this year and last year/previous years so that we’re not making decisions and judgements based off vibes.
