Big12 Basketball 2024-25

Now, I know that you know it’s Cardinal & Gold, Jesse

…But I will accept dried blood and urine in the interest of diplomacy. I enjoyed that one👍

The details of TJ Otzelberger’s recent extension were released this morning:

His base salary is now $4 million/yr effective January 1st, 2025 thru June 30, 2032.

This puts him 5th officially (or 6th depending on BYU) in the Big 12 and Top 20 nationally. Additional incentives include:

Regular-season:
$250,000: If the Cyclones earn the No. 1 seed of the Big 12 Tournament at the end of the regular season
$100,000: If the Cyclones earn the No. 2 seed of the Big 12 Tournament
$50,000: If the Cyclones earn the No. 3 seed of the Big 12 Tournament
$25,000: If the Cyclones earn the No. 4 seed of the Big 12 Tournament

Big 12 Tournament incentives:
$100,000: If the Cyclones win the Big 12 Conference Tournament
$50,000: If the Cyclones don’t win the Big 12 Tournament, but they get an at-large bid to participate in the NCAA Tournament

NCAA Tournament and individual award incentives:
$50,000: For each win that the Cyclones get in the NCAA Tournament
$50,000: If Otzelberger is selected as National Coach of the Year (including any sharing of the accolade) as awarded by the Associated Press, USBWA, NABC or Naismith organizations.
$25,000: If Otzelberger is selected as the Big 12 Coach of the Year (including any sharing of the accolade) as awarded by the Big 12 Conference.

I would hope that since “Houston is the new Kansas” (as some on here are claiming), I sure hope Sampson gets a nice bump in pay to where Self currently is.

Am i a prophet?

Utterly idiotic for Rothstein to say such a thing. He should know that if UH wants to be the New Kansas then they should finish * checks notes * sixth in conference. Let’s be serious here. /s

And maybe win a NC which Kansas did three yrs ago:rofl::rofl:

I think McCasland has done an excellent job bringing Tech back to prominence and in any other year, I’d be cool with that. But Sampson is doing absolutely historic things right now. Back to back major conference champions as a newcomer? Tied Kansas for all time 2-year league regular season win total with three regular season games left? That’s national coach of the year stuff.

Don’t think y’all’s natty from 3 years ago is winning y’all games this year or last year. If that’s how nattys work then that one must be defective or sumthin’. You guys might wanna call in the warranty on that. /s

It’s funny how you’re still incapable of understanding a limited analogy even after it’s been explained to you at length.

You’re like a little kid.

I’ve been a Coog since '68.
Was at the game in the Dome.
Had season tickets since the early 70s.
Graduated from UH.

Winning back to back Big12 titles is a huge accomplishment. I’m sure Baylor thought they were the “new Kansas” a couple of years ago (after they won a NC which we haven’t done). There isn’t anyone on here (if they’re being honest) who wouldn’t take KU resume over ours.
Again they won the NC three years ago. So in your world me pointing this out makes me a KU fan. What color is the sky in your world?

Go tell Sampson “we’re the new Kansas”. I’m sure he’d look at you like you’re crazy.

There is a good chance Sampson will look at you like you’re crazy, no matter what you say to him.

Ha. Both can definitely be True.

This is a certified Chris Baldwin moment.

Yah but Baylor hasn’t won the B12 every single season they’ve been in the league. We have. Only other program that was able to say that at any point is Kansas. So… comparison confirmed lol

UH (two Big12 titles in two yrs)

KU (twenty-one Big12 titles in twenty-eight yrs and two National Championships)

Yep “comparison confirmed”.

UH: wins the B12 in its first two seasons in the league

Kansas: won the B12 in its first two seasons in the league

Yup checks out

It’s a great accomplishment but KU is a blueblood for a reason as is their Big12 record over the past twenty-eight yrs. Throw in some NC.

Yup checks out.

Yah but are you ready for this stat. In Kansas’ 28 years in the B12, they haven’t scored a single win over Kansas. We’re already at 2 in year 2. Food for thought. lol
