I’m in Arkansas and I go to work today and everyone is down and pissed that Arkansas lost. Millions of excuses. Me (who I am NOT a Tech fan) is shutting my mouth and going thank you Tech CHA CHING.
Is McMillan out for the year or is he expected back? TT is a tough out when everyone is healthy. This is similar to how we looked last year BEFORE Shead got injured.
They thought he was going to play yesterday, but he was a late scratch. Oblique injuries can be weird.
Chance participated in the pre-game shoot around before the Arky game, which was a good sign, but he didn’t play, obviously. I think McCasland thought he wouldn’t make a difference during the Arky game but resting him another 2 days may make him more potent playing Florida.
Damn that was more stressful than necessary but okay. I’m exhausted.
Some of it is just the nature of the guys you’re bringing in at that level. They are going to leave if they only get 95% of what they want because someone is going to give them 110% of it.
Some of it is there’s not much incentive to bring back pieces from a broken team.
In their warped minds, this season was the equivalent to finishing in last place lol. It’s still Kansas, at least in their heads.
FWIW, Buchanan is a significant upgrade in athleticism over our entire frontcourt last year (as well as Oscar Cluff while we’re at it).
Add that to Mulder and Pleta, all 3 of these guys can play above the rim and cover a lot of ground quickly. Something we had 0% of last season. @zrf
More importantly, we traded one president for another, so the President boys get to continue wearing their costumes.
Guessing some of the Kansas players are merely renegotiations
Kansas took a noticeable downward turn after the OT loss to Houston, that seemed to linger the rest of the season. I read from Kansas insiders that Coach Self did not do a good job evaluating talent and making it mesh into a cohesive unit. There is pressure to turn it around. It is not about paying 5 stars NIL and rolling the ball out.
you know its a great time to be a coog fan , when we have multiple players in the mcdonalds all-american game for the 1st time ever and we have zero content up about it becuase we are focused on a final 4

thoughts on some big12 mcdy all american
tounde (baylor)- bigger stock riser for me from the scrimmages… insanely muscular and can shoot, has decent handles at 6’6… he’d miss a shot, pushed everyone out of the way to get his own rebound… you felt is presence… i can already tell we’ll hate playing him
abev (cincy)- can really really shoot/score… and 6’7… but is insanely soft, no rebounding, almost liability on D
Petterson (Kansas)- shifty, can shoot, can drive, can defend… needs to reduce the turnovers (polish the handles)
AJ (BYU)- amazing handles for his size, made some crazy difficults layups, can D up guards at 6’9 … did not hit a single shot longer than 5feets (shot a few)…but sample size too small to mean anything
burries (could go to arizonna) - smooth, didnt force anything. took whatever was given
the crown touranemt started 2 days ago… really interesting as before its started the portal was opened… half the team has players out
UCF without sellers, hall, mikey (and a few others) got a 1 point win over oregon state (who also had players out)
cincy who is reportedly going to lose the house in the portal, got every player to play (except
backup center)… blew out depaul
3 other big 12 teams played all resulting in losses
UCF vs Cincy tomorrow in this tournaments version of the elite 8
AJ Dybansta talking big 12 hoops
says houston winning it all this year

calling an all big 12 final 4 next year with Houston, Arizona, Cincy and BYU… note abeav is sitting next to him (A cincy recruit)
Did Justin put him up to this?
I hope so. We needed to get more athletic and increase our above the rim playing capabilities.
I also pray that Otz realizes it’s hard to simply spread the floor and not have any kind of motion or offensive sets to speak off. We rarely run set plays and when they do they are a disaster. Watching us coming out of TOs or at the end of the half is painful.
Kansas is in serious trouble. In fact, a lot of the Big 12 is (if I’m being honest).
Kansas’ big sell was that they were a premier basketball program. They had increased exposure, a rich tradition, and success with putting players in the pros.
Now the game has changed. It’s all about NIL and collectives and even the fringiest of Big Ten and SEC schools have money. And the big dogs? They have a ton of money. Now, tradition doesn’t matter, they can simply go out and buy players. This happens to be coinciding with a REALLY bad year from Kansas, one with which Self poorly constructed and utilized a roster. Add to that the rumblings of internal issues about playing time and discontentment, and Kansas is as tough a sell as it’s ever been. At least in several years (if not decades).
I know a lot of people like to “root against” Kansas, but the viability of our league is largely dependent on image. Having strong, traditional programs, like a Kansas helps with that.
It’s disgusting how much publicity the SEC got for ONE year in basketball. That’s the BS the Big 12 is up against, and the more “big dogs” we have. The better.
Agree with this statement 100%.
