Most of us Coog Fans put BYU at the top. Despite losing twice to Tech last year.
I think there are several factors in this…
-
They’re consistently good. A “program” and not a “team”.

Their Fans are respectful.
-
They’re led by a really good coach.
-
Y’all have the most quality win, so far, of the top tier.
-
You’d be hard pressed to find any Coog Fan who likes Tech.

We’re both Cougars.

I’d put UH #1 with a win at Lubbock and Tech #2 with a win. I feel confident that the eventual league champion is coming from these 5. Tech has a very favorable schedule this year. They should be able to sleep walk to 7-2 so if we want to make the CCG, this may be a must win for us.

Agree, BYUcougarfan…and i think we’ll see BYU and Houston play in the championship game. Hopefully, both are 12-0. How great would that be!

If we are both 12-0 I’d even be okay with a BYU loss in that game. We’d both be in for sure with BYU having the Notre Dame win

I think BYU and Houston could both make some noise in the playoffs. Its great that we both have teams good enough to talk about it. Here is hoping it happens.

I think Utes are legit good, but Utah is 100% losing in Ames to start the Big 12 season so, take that into account fwiw.
ISU never loses these. Completely different animal in these one-off spots.

Yeah as probably like the 12 seed tho honestly. Not because it’s fair or anything, just that that’s the only way they’d seed a 2nd Big 12 team 100%

I know it was Arkansas but Utah’s defense held the Hogs to 3 until a trash TD late. Thats impressive.

I saw a couple Utah players say they could see Arkansas would run or pass by OL stances.
You’d like to say it’s a fluke but they were doing the same sign stealing Michigan was and they are elite at scouting like that. It’s part of their football identity.

Allow me then to quell your nattering, my friend.
So the Cyclones nickname dates all the way back to 1895. They crushed Northwestern in Evanston, and seeing as how one of the lead stories from that preceding summer was about a particularly destructive Iowa tornado (which were still commonly called “Cyclones” back then)… the Tribune chose to make a connection their readers would idenitfy with and refer to their local team’s peformance as similar to being ripped apart by an Iowa Cyclone.
Ppl back home loved it and from that day on the Ames College football team was to be known as the Cyclones.
So in the 1950s when the school was in the process of becoming a full-fledged liberal arts university as opposed to a technical college as it had largely been previously, the students wanted a legitimate costumed mascot (for whatever reason that made sense back then I guess lol).
But they couldn’t figure out how to make a tornado mascot that would work back then.
Cy made his debut in 1954 (side note: donned by a former basketball player chosen to wear it, so the costume was quite tall).
It is a cardinal because ISU’s official primary school color is actually Cardinal and had been for some time by that point… not simply “red”, nor scarlett, crimson, maroon, or burgundy as many still believe. This is fairly unique and the mascot serves an additional purpose in helping to clarify and solidify that once and for all.

Yeah within the regular confines of a game, even outright stealing signs is not really seen as out of bounds. Certainly not identifying tendencies.
However, it’s the extra lengths Michigan went to that makes it bad. If they sent scouts to Arkansas games ahead of time solely for that reason, and they made specific charts and turned stealing their opponents signs into a cottage industry, that would be entirely different.
This is why we have mics now lol.
Edit: if you haven’t watched the specific Netflix doc on it, I’d recommend it. It’s an interesting watch
