Nah. Night games have always been special here in general too.
The fans actually don’t like too many night games, so it’s a fine line. Kind of because what we talked about w/ tailgating. Ideally, we get like 1 or 2 night games and they’re exclusively for only the biggest matchups. Then the fans really embrace it.
The new contract combined with our recent respectable ratings and on-field success had caused the majority of our home games to be night games recently and ppl really don’t like that. (I know, wah wah lol)
The grass doesn’t handle too many night games very well, either. This is where you get Satterfield claiming our playing surface is “horrible and everyone knows it.”
This is a touchy subject because the grass surface is actually like top 5 in the country and a lot of technology and investment goes into maintaining it.
But it’s Iowa so the grass is in the dormant stage, and if we’re gonna keep playing a football game at night every week when its dewy and already basically dead, it’s not gonna stay 100% perfect. Wear better cleats lol.
