big notes: boise wants aac all sports, we want boise football only …
emails note boise is the only team we are a looking at…boise wants more west teams (to make all sports more sustainable)
we want to stay at 12 …
That’s encouraging news! It would be great if Boise State would join the AAC for football. Is the conference reluctant to extend an invite for all sports due to the travel distance/costs associated with a single member way out west?
If Boise State is feeling lonely and wants another university to come along, maybe they could persuade BYU to join football only.
Remember it supposed to be Boise and Air Force in the original American until the Mountain West gave Boise an unequal share of MWC revenue
BSU is really trying to make the move since it makes a lot of sense for money reasons. $$
He projected an increase of $4 million in additional revenue from television and media rights deals, College Football Playoff and Bowl Game Distribution and NCAA Tournament basketball payouts from a move to the American. Larrondo also projected an increase of $2.75 million in ticket revenue for football and men’s basketball games.
In all Larrondo sees the potential for an “increased revenue impact resulting from a move to the AAC” of $10.5 million.
I don’t like Boise and don’t want them. They will just cause problems. Just look how they treated MWC. I would rather add Colo. St., Air Force, or UNLV.
The Talking Heads ( ESPN,etc ) can talk down the AAC all they want but you add BSU and BYU to the mix and that is one solid conference, that SHOULD be P6 beyond a doubt
The MWC is not strong as a conference. BSU did what they wanted because MWC needed them. BSU knows that is not going to work in the American.
P5.75!! Almost there.
Believe it was supposed to be SDSU not Air Force. I would be down to add all three and take the conference to 14.
I sure hope Aresco and his team are aggressively courting Boise State University. What sort of agreement is required by existing conference members to add a new member? Boise State was set to join the AAC a couple of years back, right? So I would think there isn’t any opposition among existing members.
I would rather have CSU. New stadium and closer. And if they’re interested, BYU. I don’t want Air Force. Boise State is a good brand and would be appealing in that aspect but football only.
It was all three and when BS withdrew the other two backed out.
Oh no! Here we go again with name your school to add. I’m sure the only school other than BYU, the American would be interested in is Boise State. ESPN would probably agree to give them a full share of the football money.
What are you saying, that I shouldn’t voice an opinion on here? It’s a message board. It’s not like our posts actually affect these decsions anyways…
You can voice your opinion but the title is about Boise State.
Just relooked it up. All three were invited. Air Force turned the offer down immediately. Boise and SDSU were going to join. Boise backed out and SDSU followed.
So? Others on here are mentioning other schools? Who gives a crap?
I think BSU is headed into being a has been.
IMO, we should look beyond just Boise State. A 14 team conference makes sense, but restricting the new members to the Mountain Time Zone.
The other candidates: BYU and either Colorado State or Air Force. My personal leaning is the AFA.
If possible, the three new teams as football only. Boise State and BYU are obvious choices. Both are highly competitive in football. Notre Dame playing an ACC schedule in football might encourage BYU to join the AAC. The AFA gives the conference additional national marketing appeal. The country loves the military academies.
Continue the marketing campaign to promote the AAC as P-6, but if that fails, adding the other teams clearly distances the AAC from the other G-5.
