Yes
Any of them would be better roadies than most of the eastern gang.
Couple things here:
-
Mwc only has FOX and CBS for their tv contract. No ESPN. Thatâs HUGE because CBS just lost the SEC. Their college football tv inventory just became an absolute joke. Boise wants in an ESPN conference now. Makes sense.
-
If Boise wants all sports we should give it to them. Their hoops program has gotten decent. I would add UNLV (the flood gates have opened Vegas is a sports mecca they will be P5 conference material soon) and Air Force football only to balance Navy. Thatâs a P6. Just Boise doesnât do it push all our chips in. But ESPN has to agree to equal payout for all 3 and I donât think they will, especially if CBS retains the service academy games. I think theyâd pay for Boise but not the other 2. They donât want P6.
Just IMO. Donât feel that strong about it either way.
This is good press for the AAC either way. Cincy had a great year and is keeping the P6 conversation alive. This keeps the narrative going.
Itâs obvious now Boise realizes that it would probably never gets to play in a NY6 bowl if it remains in the MWC since the best AAC team would get the call over other G5 teams. Thatâs why Boise has a change of heart despite getting more TV money than its conference mates and even though that may be true what Boise gets in compensation isnât that much more than what each school in the AAC gets.
That makes it a no-brainer for Boise to join the AAC.
If BYU thinks critically instead of seeing itself superior to other G5 schools then it would come to the same conclusion as Boise. I think if Boise can get BYU to join the AAC then we should extend the all-sports memberships to both schools. With both of these schools being members of the AAC, I think the AAC is a better and tougher football conference than the Big 12-2 and the PAC 12! No doubt about it! No reason then why we canât be Power 6!
I donât get why ESPN has a problem with the AAC becoming a Power 6 if we could add these other schools that would make our conference more better and more tougher in football than the Big 12-2 and the PAC 12, especially if we could generate just as much or even more viewership!
See the end of the Big East. We should have taken their initial offerâŠthey destroyed our conference after that. It didnât help bringing Tulane in. Catholic 7 got mad and bolted forming new Big East. OUR BONEHEADED COMMISHONER SOLD THE BIGEAST NAME TO THEM FOR PEANUTS!!!
It upsets their power conference clients which is where 99% of their investment is.
We are at 11 teams in football and basketball. So the addition has to be with odd numbers. My preference will be to add 3 and they should be BYU, Boise, SDSU. Or we go with 5 and bring in UNLV and UNM or Colo St or Airforce
I tell BYU they donât have to play on Sundays, add Colorado State and Air Force and call it a day. #fboistst
As Iâve said before, we can live with a few Saturday double headers in baseball and softball. Itâs not a hang-up.
Totally correct. Schedules could be modified to eliminate Sunday games.
BYU can play double headers on Saturdays. Basketball doesnât have to be played on Sunday.
In the event some sports require Sunday participation, BYU can make an arrangement with another conference to include the off sports.
Boise, BYU and San Diego State.
That gets you to 14. All three would be all sports.
Air Force would be a great addition provided they could convince Army to join But for Football only.
At that point the American isnt the SEC but it isnât anything remotely like the the G4 conferences
The conference has gone to 4 game weekend series with Saturday double headers and 4th game on Sunday. If you are going to change things for BYU then you will be playing a triple header on Saturday.
Then we need to do Thursday, Friday, and Saturday double header for BYU.
No worries.
Similar to other schools during these challenging times, Boise State has plans to drop swimming, diving, and baseball. Surprising that baseball is on the chopping block.
I saw that. Hey even Stanford and Big Ten Schools are dropping programs.
I honestly think the wave of the future is Conferences will only be for football and basketball and all the other sports will be in regional conferences to cut the cost.
Coog51, Iâve been saying that for a long time. Why should schools have huge travel expenses for the Olympic sports when there is plenty of competition in those sports from regional schools.
Can we please add SDSU for the road trips? I prefer San Diego over Boise.
A western division of
Houston
BYU
Boise State
San Diego State
SMU
Tulsa
Tulane or Memphis
Is pretty freaking good. I would be content for a long time.
