BOOM! Conner Weigman commits to Houston!

They may not be calling the shots, but we definitely can’t lose their support by doing crazy things like not starting Weigman. If he were to ever lose the QB1 job, it would have to be a situation where he just completely bombed in game & everyone got to see for themselves that a change needed to be made. But as is, he’s QB1 from the get go. There is no competition. That’s doesn’t mean he won’t come in & work hard to continue to earn his position. I’m simply saying this idea that he has to “earn”, or “win”, the starting job is wild.

Conner will start. I suspect Zeon will be held back in the spring after surgery.

I think McMickle & Wijay battle for #3.

After spring, we’ll see who transfers

Will McMickle be ready this spring? Could be just Weigman and the Freshman.

I suspect he will

I think if Austin Carlisle plays any significant time as a true freshman, UH is in big trouble.

Rumor has it they had an easier schedule . . . . .

I’m pretty confident that the football coach does things differently. If not, then all this talk about “a winner everywhere he’s been” will never include UH.

If he’s healthy and ready to go, I could see Zeon playing out on the wing. Weigman gets him the ball in an open field, and its 6 points…both those guys on the field at the same time would give us some weapons to trouble the defense. We are going to be a lot better on that side of the ball next year.

Interestingly Ale is still here. My guess is he’s gonna see where he lands on the depth chart or at least wants more film before hitting the portal.

Gang,

The job is Weigman’s to lose.

The reality is this.

Weigman is the PRESUMPTIVE starter going in the Spring simply because a) he has P2 starting experience, b) Chriss hasn’t proven to be a good passer, and in any event is coming off surgery, and c) the other QBs in the room haven’t even been good enough to jump ahead of Donovan Smith on the depth chart.

The only way Weigman ISN’T the starter next year is if either a) he comes in and completely flops in the Spring; that’s highly unlikely given what I said above, or b) totally sucks in the first few games to the extent that the fans are will riot if he remains the starter.

I mean, sure. There will be a nominal/notional “competition” for the job in the Spring, basically just as a formality.

But realistically, he has the job unless something REALLY unexpected happens, or he gets hurt.

People expecting a QB listed at 5’10” with no experience beyond high school to come in and beat out a 6’3” guy with SEC starting experience are being completely UNrealistic.

None of this, BTW, has anything to do with money, or boosters running the show.

The real competition is seeing who ends up being QB2

Zeon was probably told you’re going to be competing for backup just like David Mills was told he was going to be backup to CJ on the Texans. It’s unfortunate but that’s the reality.

Weigman lost his job because of injuries and Reed took over.

As it stands, there isn’t a Big 12 school that would be sought by the Big 10. Probably the only schools that have the potential to get to that point are UH, Colorado, and Arizona.

And MAYBE Kansas.

FIFY.

Those are the only AAU schools, and the Big 10 isn’t taking anybody that isn’t AAU.

That said, Kansas’ football brand is bad enough to where the Big 10 has already said no to them once.

The Big Ten has no reason to expand with anyone other than Notre Dame.

Until Notre Dame decides to join, then Big Ten ain’t expanding.

Outside of Notre Dame, there are no other brands that are worth adding. If Big Ten expands into a new territory, it would have to be incredibly strategic.

UNC and UVA would be worth it

Sure they would (more so UNC), but that doesn’t mean UVA and UNC want to join the Big Ten themselves

I think both schools would much rather be in the SEC both for rival but also travel purposes.

Money won’t be an issue because the SEC is eventually going to eclipse the Big Ten in media revenue
