BOOM! Conner Weigman commits to Houston!

Bottom line for me is if Fritz thinks Weigman would be a good fit, that’s good enough for me. Fritz has a plan

No, the people on here know who will fit Fritz’s offense better than he does.

Folks, anyone opposing signing this guy really, REALLY needs to have their head examined.

At 6’3" and 220, he has ideal size.

He’d certainly be a better passer than what we had last year (though to be fair, that wouldn’t be hard).

This guy has thrown for 2,694 yards, 19 TDs and only 7 INTs as a BIG-TIME college QB.

Can anyone else either on our current roster, or coming in, match that??? (Hint: NO…NOT close!!!).

And…MOST IMPORTANTLY…he has a 9-4 career record as a starter (including 4-1 last season)…for a P2, SEC team.

NO other QB on our roster next season can match those credentials.

So if he wants to come here…we’d be really…REALLY stupid, NOT to offer.

I’m not betting my money on a guy listed at 5’10" (which means he might really be 5’ 8.5") to come in as an 18 year old true freshman with no college experience and run our system well, nor am I willing to take a risk on an inexperienced QB returning from injury, or another QB proven to be a poor passer returning from surgery.

Sorry…but signing this guy in time for the Spring…if the opportunity presents itself, is a NO BRAINER given the FACTS that I just presented.

You can’t use your inner lawyer presenting facts on here. We have several experts in this thread who know football better than Coach Fritz.

You know Pardee’s first game here versus Oklahoma State was a hot mess as well. That happens sometimes when you are changing the whole philosophy of what and how you are going to do things. Especially when it comes to trying to change the culture. Throw in 63 new guys and it happens.

I did get to see him in high school. One of the best high school games I have ever seen was Tivy versus Cibolo Steele in Kerrville. Steele has a running back, Brown, that i believe went to Texas. Neither defense had much chance of stopping the other offense.

Yep Malcolm Brown. Elite high school running back, he was OK at UT and he hung around the NFL for a few years.

Johnny was a beast in HS.

Rush him and get burned on a 70 yard run.

Play nickel or dime and he moves around and eventually picks you apart.

Brees was the best passer I saw in HS.

Not sure ,sounds like a Kyle Allen deal another former Aggie who was a disappointment although some will argue it was the coach and his system

Every coach walks into a new situation…there are multiple examples of similar coaches being in conference championship contention in YEAR ONE.

STOP making excuses…that’s all we seem to do here.

Find a D$mn way to win football games …that’s the coach’s job!

yes…Tilman and Pez could have a found a coach + Players package deal so IT WAS NOT a full rebuild.

You can 100% do that in the NIL Transfer era.

Unless we have another QB on the roster with comparable P4 level stats and record (which we DON’T), it’d be silly to think that any of our existing QBs would be a safer bet/less of a risk than this guy.

More than anything else this season except the O-Line, passing was our biggest weakness. This guy would almost certainly be an improvement in this regard. With that in mind, I’d have him here in the Spring and give him a shot if the opportunity to do so exists.

You’d think Kyle Allen was sacking groceries at HEB from reading this thread.

Yeah, Allen’s issue here was Major Applewhite. He was more than capable.

Grateful Kyle Allen was a Coog. He’s had a successful NFL career, too.

Gotta love the experts on Coogfans besides the last qb that was sacking groceries had a Hall of Fame career

Love the passion brother but we got to give the man a little time. He’s going to win here, it’s what Coach does. I have zero doubt he’ll have us contending for Big 12 Titles in short order. Future so bright we gotta wear shades :grinning:

Where is the instant success? Coaching shouldn’t take anytime. You don’t have to build anything in the days of NIL and portal. Just buy the players and lets win now instead.
This building relationships with High schools and getting great local recruits will take years of watching players get better. No fan has the time to watch players and the program develop.

Agreed. $7.5M career earning thus far is nothing to sneeze at.

A&M didn’t have a great OL
Also Collin Klein brought a different offense than Weigman was less suited than the young Reed
