C.F. received his law degree from the University of Houston in 1960. He was admitted to practice law before the US Supreme Court and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals as well as the Southern District Federal Court.
The photo is from the 1986 UH Board of Regents. C.F. is the second from the left, standing.
My Dad’s best buddy. I hope he’s up there filling my Dad in on the Peach Bowl, Final Four, new law school building, new med school, and TDECU. Hope he’s sharing some new Sigma Nu multi-generational TDECU suite stories. We sure did have fun.
CF will be greatly missed. He loved UH with a passion. If you know him, check on Dorothy, his wife of 50+ years.
CF and Dorothy were my parents closest friends…I was honored that CF presented me with both of my UH degrees (BBA 81; JD 87) at my graduations…
A finer Advocate for UH you will never find. The sharpest of wit, a fine attorney, a Buck Henry sense of humor, and political animal…he was a Universal Man indeed…
I have known C.F. since our days in Law School. In those days we were in the basement of the MD Anderson. Our graduating classes were small but entering classes were large. There were 120 in my entering class in 1960. Less than 30 graduated 3 years later. High attrition, small faculty but some of what would later become some of the top lawyers in Houston, Texas and yes even other states came through the basement in MDA and marked the history of our law school in those days. CF was one of those. I had season tickets and later a box in the Dome. When we moved to Robertson our boxes were adjacent to each other. When we had our Taxi Squad meetings downtown in the Houston Club and later at one of the hotels CF was always there. CF would visit me and Stan Binion (another legendary Cougar supporter) in our offices and most of time was spent talking Cougar football and basketball. Those were great days when we were winning the SWC and enjoying the magic of Phi Slama Jama.
There is so much more I could say but will just close by saying we have lost a giant among Cougars and wish his family peace and serenity at this difficult time.
CF WAS A GOOD FRIEND. I KIND OF HELP GET CF % DORTHY TOGETHER BACK IN THE DAYS AT UH.
CF DID SOME LEGAL WORK FOR ME. WE WERE AT UH AT THE SAME TIME. YES GOOD OLE DAYS. HE
WILL BE MISSED.
CF AND HIS RUNNING MATE GOT ME INTO THE

Met C F in 1961. He was a dedicated U of H alum. Got involved as a student & stayed involved until his passing. Gave $, bought tickets, volunteered, attended games & events. Was a respected voice that many of our leaders not only listened to his input but also solicited his views. Never pushy or overbearing but always a gentleman & professional. The greater Houston community knew he was a proud Cougar. My bride, who also knew C F since the 1960s, & I sought his “advice” on many occasions as we knew CF would provide excellent straightforward advice. CF was blessed to be married to Dorothy who is one great lady. There was a special group of Cougars who graduated at the same time as CF who helped create a solid foundation for our university. Blessed to have known & benefited from my times with one special Cougar!
I didn’t know CF, but he sure sounded like a bleeding red Cougar of pedigree type.
Thanks for all your service and contributions to get U of H where it is today.
His reaching 88 years old is remarkable. Guess it’s true, don’t outlive
your well wishers.
