Can we beat Iowa State?

Progress. That is all I am asking for. Better QB play. Better OL play. Reduced penalties. The defense that played the first 3 games.

All I want to see is progress.

Come on, man…eye test.

Football teams are composed of 3 parts, or teams.

Offense
Defense
Special Teams

Our first four games consisted of a G5 MWC school, a G5 AAC School, a Blueblood SEC school, and our twin Big 12 newbie so a good sample size, if not the easiest third of our schedule.

In 50% (2/4) of our games, the Defense was NOT competitive.

In 75% (3/4) of our games, the Offense was NOT competitive.

In 100% (4/4) of our games, the Special Teams was NOT competitive.

We had a Punt reurned for a TD… 100% don’t fit

Ok…so our Special Teams were Competitive in 25% of our games.

Your point?

Coach Fritz would of been perfect for UH when Judas left in 2017 being in the AAC. But in 2024 and beyond being entrench newly to a strong conference like the Big 12 i think he is not the best fit. Hopefully im wrong but im rarely am in sports!!!

We switched to an entirely different type of offense with Fritz. What we have now probably requires different types of players, most importantly, a quarterback that can scramble, run and throw the ball downfield with accuracy.

Personally, I wanted the fireworks with a highflying offense like the one being run by UNLV Coach Odom and the OC Brennan Marion. That was my first pick, but I was also fine with Fritz given his overall winning record at multiple places and ability to rebuild programs.

With that said, I really think Fore needs to make more changes with personnel and staff moving forward. I think we’re in good hands on the defensive side of the ball but offensively, I want to see changes. Regardless of how good the defense is, you still need an offense that can score, and we don’t have that with the current scheme and OC.

Something will need to change moving forward. In the short term, I’m hoping to see Fritz adjust the offense around Chriss or Ale. After the season is over I hope he brings in an OC that knows how to put points on the board while still maintaining a run-heavy offense.

Looking towards the future, I sure as hell hope Fritz brings in some top-notch OL’s to go along with a new QB. If young Austin Carlisle can play, and I think he can based on the feedback and highlights that we’ve seen, you start him over the others. He’s exactly the type of QB that could make the offense work.

Actually, I think we have a chance to win against Iowa State. Cincy embarrassed us pretty bad and ISU is rolling. The program got humiliated against Cincy, so I expect to see our guys come out breathing fire. ISU won’t be expecting to get smacked in the mouth, which is exactly what I expect us to do.

Hope you are right but we are most likely going to get cooked.

I don’t care if Iowa State donkey stomps my Coogs. I just want to see a prepared team make improvements. I’ve accepted the reality of 1-11. I want to see the coaching staff prepare the kids to get better each week. I want the kids to compete. As the losses mount, it will be hard for some coaches and kids to avoid just going through the motions and grabbing their ankles for the weekly whipping. Play the young kids. Give them Big XII reps. Take your lumps this year and find the coaches and kids that will commit to getting better. If CWF can do that, recruit, and put the foundation in place for better days, I’ll keep buying season tickets, and ride and die with our Coogs.

I don’t have a feel for this game. Like some others. Which means we are in for arse whooping or pulling a shocker.

Getting blown out ABSOLUTELY effects recruiting.

If you were a top recruit, with options, would you sign with a program that appears to be incompetent on the Football field?

If we can’t win, then we need to look well coached and competitive.

After the first third of our season, we do not look well coached or competitive

F that!!! With all due respect lol. UH regressed this past week. Youre smoking sonething all right.

Its one thing to get cooked but to be held under double digits again is very possible.

I have to agree with the folks who said we regressed and we have, WF knows that. Reason for his comments he made post mortem.have confidence he’ll right the ship.

Who? Not Prime Time for sure! Can’t just reload through the portal with rejects from other teams for the most part.

I agree. I think we will be focused and hungry for a win. I think we will play better; especially the defense.

I wouldn’t mind having Sam Brown on sideline.

ISU mental state will be that of a taking UH for granted knowing they just got blown out. So a repeat of OU. I’d bet a cover of the 12 pt spread especially in friendly(ish) confines of TDECU.

We were NOT favored by 3…They are a dominant MWC team with a top rated offense expect to contend or win MWC coming to play a team EVERYONE picked last or next to last in Big 12…Get real, bro…As my dad used to tell me, the paper dont TAKE, the bookmakers do…They were the better team coming in and played like it…we did OK defensively considering…

Whether you agree with it or not, we were favored by 3.5
