Nah, save it for our future NHL team ![]()
I hate the fact that we play the “they should just…” game like the athletic department could fix the issue if they wanted to, it’s insulting to the professionals in charge, and it makes us look bad as a program.
You should just tell people to stop that.
I did some Google Earthing, Baylor’s canopy extends roughly 50’-70’ and covers approximately 50% of the 42.5k seats and Northwestern’s new $875m stadium canopy extends approximately 95’ which covers 100% of the stadiums 35k seats. Our stadium’s home upperdeck is approximately 90’ deep and the northside’s 300’s is 50’ deep and if you add the 200’s you get a total of 100’+
If you put Northwestern’s shade coverings on TDECU 0% of the lower bowl would have shade during an 11am kickoff.
If you put Baylor’s shade covering on TDECU the 200s and half the home side 300s would not have shade either.
I would love to see something like these with there own little shades, in the corners they rarely sell anyways. The Balconies at Davis Wade - Mississippi State
Adding shade will not solve the attendance problem. The weather is not unbearable, our fans just don’t exist or are incredibly soft and will come up with any reason they can to sit at home on their couch. Until there is some sense of urgency throughout the fanbase, we’ll continue to be laughed at for weak attendance. And ultimately, when realignment happens again, we will be left out again.
Instead of writing this what about:
Pushing for an initiative to have the Fertitta group, Hilton School and our Bauer Marketing program to have an open strategy on how they want to fill TDECU?
What is being done to fill TDECU is what I want to read about. By having these three “heads” we have a unique opportunity to try something different. Has this been done already? Tell us so. Until then we have to try to make this happen. All three bring their unique perspectives on hospitality, clients services and business revenues. Is there anyone listening?
