Coach Prime building something at Jackson State

In defense of Prime going to a P5 program, he’ll probably want to win it all like, in his professional career. No shame in moving on if he accomplishes the goal of getting these kids to look at HBCU as a viable alternative to further their aspirations

That makes sense. But to my knowledge we have never had a sellout or near sellout for Southern or TSU.
Heck Rice normally brings only a handful of fans to the hood, but they bring more than the neighboring Tigers

I truly hope I’m wrong but I think Prime sees his current stop as a stepping stone regardless of what he’s selling at the moment.

Look I’ll always pull for the underdogs or the little guys. I’d love to see Prime stay at Jackson and continue to be a thorn in FSU’s side for 20+ years. I also don’t think he’d leave for the money. I think its all ego/competitive drive motivating Prime. He wants to coach and win at the highest level. And there’s nothing wrong with that but ultimately that means that Jackson is a stepping stone. People talking about how he’s different and he may buck the trend, are kidding themselves. Prime’s swagger and the way he carries himself may be different than your average CFB HC but in the areas that matter he’s identical. Competitive drive, ego, will to win. The same things that drove Briles, Sumlin, and Herman to leave for bigger and better things will push Prime to do the same. All you can hope for is that when he leaves he does it on good terms and having left Jackson in better shape than when he found it.

This is the important point and well stated, my friend. I want to believe Mr. Sanders will stay true to his vision. One for team humanity…

Not sure how much it is but it can’t be chump change coming from a national brand like Gatorade.

Bethune-Cookman vs Jackson State moved to Jaguars stadium. Prime is unhappy because he said Bethine-Cookman doesn’t have any fans so the place is gonna look empty even if JSU bring 40k on their own.

Good interview with Coach Prime. I’m not sure P5s can handle his confidence (swagger).

How do we know Prime was interested? I am sure did checks on his interest. I doubt prime moves to any school from Jackson State. I believe his choice will be if he moves at all -
Fla State (alma mater)
Miami (aligned with his swagger and Florida recruitment)
Maybe Alabama (just to prove a black coach can win there)

I don’t know if he would have taken the job, but he reportedly interviewed for it while in the hospital. (Sanders later denial was more evasion than actual denial.)

I don’t think he takes any P5 job, but I think the list of jobs he would take is longer than a few schools and I think TCU may have been on that list this year due to its location and potential. (I think the list now is smaller and is less likely to include TCU.)

The impact of Deion Sanders on Jackson State and HBCUs is eye opening. I’m not sure this has ever happened at an HBCU.

Really hope he is available at end of 2023 season. He deserves to be part of the conversation.

I cannot imagine him at TCU. It is the complete opposite of all he has preached about improving HBCUs.

I don’t think he’ll take either job. I remember he said that you should always hear what’s being pitched though.
