Coach Sampson may well be contemplating retiring, and if does I don’t blame him one bit. It has been a great ride. I had the great ride with Guy V. Lewis and now Sampson, so I am a happy man no matter what.

Saying Houston is in the market for a GM is simply stupid. Everyone knows Kellen will be taking over the program and if Coach calls it quits this year I think we will be in good hands.
And it certainly wouldn’t surprise me if Sampson has a permanent office close to Kellen’s in order to check in ever so often.
I have said it many times…enjoy the ride the while you can. We were extremely lucky to land Sampson and I think we are also lucky that his son in line for the job.

I think a GM is the one in charge with the NIL finances and sponsorships. Not the one hiring a new coach in college like the NBA. Two different titles. If I’m wrong my apologies.
Here is my take. I given thought about UH needing a GM, to take some responsibility off Coach Sampson. Coach Sampson is so hands on, a GM would need to be someone who defers to Sampson on personnel, as in roster management, and financial decisions. At the very basic, its “UH has $$$ of dollars, now pay your existing players and go out and sign new players. You need to work within this budget.” A GM can be involved in fund raising, monitoring the market for players, and serving as a resource to Sampson, but Sampson has to run the show.
Looks like a job for Mrs. Sampson. 
I coach with a guy who is a UNI grad and I’ve asked him what in the heck happened to their program? I know and understand they made it to The Dance this year but once upon a time in the heartland they were a mid major to contend with. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
