He’s compensated well at 4.5 million but I think some of yall seem to think we can’t afford to pay him more. That’s not true. We offered Herman a 4 million dollar deal almost a decade ago when we were playing in a G5 league. Since then we’ve had the largest revenue increase of any program in FBS. And we’re about to see a substantial revenue increase again as attendance is up and our full media share kicks in. If need be we could up his salary to the 6-6.5 million range without even blinking.
You said all of that just to say you still dont know where any of those top programs are in terms of their coaching searches.
I know a winner when I see one. To sit here and make it seem like someone is somehow less of a fan they actually like our coach is the most idiotic thing I think I’ve ever seen on this board. That’s saying a lot considering the fact that I’ve gone to the depths with Pesik & his ChatGPT responses on this board before.
Who?
And the revenue increase doesn’t necessarily justify increased payroll, given that we were operating like credit card millionaires before and spending far beyond what we could actually afford.
Top of your profile, bro.
Someone called us broke earlier. We aren’t and we’re about to get a substantial revenue increase. Again we don’t need to rush to hand Willie a raise but the idea that we can’t afford to give him one isn’t true.
Not sure what your point is here.
You’re going back multiple years ago to find previous things I said in an attempt to prove a point about a conversation we’re having about this 2025 UH team. Sad.
And the funny part is, you chose to use my comments about Coach Prime as if the dude didn’t just produce a Heisman Trophy winner months ago. Give me a break dude ![]()
And again, “broke” depends on the definition. Athletics still “borrows” from the university to cover operating costs, so it isn’t self-sufficient. From where I sit, having to borrow money to pay the bills sounds a lot like being broke. Granted, we’re in much better shape with B12 money coming in, but we started from a point that was way below zero.
Until we fill up the stadium and get a legitimate donor base, this isn’t going to change much. Whether we can afford to pay more depends largely on the generosity of a handful of donors.
You said you know a winner when you see one. Surely you didn’t just expect us to take your authority on that, right?
It’s pinned at the top of your profile. One of the first things people see when they click on your username. Not a ton of digging. A lot of people agreed with you. And yet here Deion sits, close to the bottom of the Big 12. Despite that Heisman winner. Sitting on a sub-.500 record, with two losing seasons in three years since he moved up.
The fact that you’re searching for 3 yr old posts on my profile shows just how weak your argument is.
As for whats “pinned” to my profile, I’ve never even looked at that stuff so I have no idea how any of that even works. I barely know how to direct message someone on this site bc I never really use it. I simply respond to what’s in front of me. You otoh, are reaching for anything you can bc you know your argument is garbage.
And again, Coach Prime had a winning team last year, produced a Heisman winner, & has multiple guys from that squad on active NFL rosters. You’re using this season as an excuse to act like none of that ever happened. That’s lazy, & quite frankly, a pretty stupid hill to die on
This thread had promise
They all do until folks get emotional over one thing & start nitpicking arguments
Wow
I’m not acting like anything didn’t happen. He absolutely had a great season last year. And a bad one the year before. But his track record at this level isn’t spectacular overall, especially without Shedeur and Travis Hunter. He’s a fantastic recruiter by all accounts, and his teams also haven’t been great relative to that talent level.
You said you know a winner when you see one, and you don’t. Neither do I, but I’m not out here talking about how I do. In fact, my entire point in this thread is that we don’t really know anything conclusively at this point and making decisions we don’t have to is premature. Guys look good all the time; I was convinced Herman was gonna win National Titles at Texas, and I was head over heels for Seth Littrell.
Bro go to bed. You sound ridiculous ![]()
T-Moar,
Mostly reasonable IMO. I can agree with several of your points. We don’t know if Willie is going to take this team to the promised land.
But we do know his track record, which is Excellent, and his results so far, which are as good, or better than anyone on this message board expected.
We also know there’s a lot to look forward to with the excellent recruiting taking place.
Perhaps we ALL (including myself) should take 1 or 2 “chill pills” and enjoy this ride a little more.
I enjoy the idea of running this conference. how about that boo?
Keep the Willy happy, and he will deliver. We become what we prepare for.
Most P4 programs borrow from their universities. None of them are broke. Our revenue has increased like 155% over the last decade. It’ll increase at least 20% on top of that this year. We can afford to up our HC salary 50% without having to lean on donors.
So…
The real question is…
Do we go 1-0 in the bye week?
2-0?
3-0?
As far as the standings go, we get the equivalent of a “half a win” for every other team still in the hunt that loses this weekend.
I like our chances.
