Thanks, Dude. I think we’re all actually mostly in agreement here that CWF is (probably! sorry, couldn’t help myself) a damn good coach, and we’re lucky to have him, and I look forward to seeing future developments. Flame wars over minutae like “does that warrant a contract extension” kind of make a mountain out of a molehill.

I would hate to lose CWF because we are actually trending in the right direction for the first time in forever. We have a coach that understands you have to work in recruiting and that is whats been missing for a long time around UH football.

His salary is 4.5 million. I’m saying he could get bumped to the 6.5 million range without it impacting our athletic department because we’re going to see an increase in revenue this year that’s probably north of 18 millions dollars.
Edit: also you’re off on his performance bonuses. He’s only eligible for 1.5 million in bonuses which would cap him at 6 million.

You still will not answer the question of where the money will come from. All you are doing is calling fans on this board names. The participants on this board are already donors. We are not the problem.
You’re not including the $1MM buyout and tax liability that is part of his compensation. It all counts. And it would clearly impact the budget, because every dollar is already spoken for.
That doesn’t mean he won’t get a raise, but there’s no reason to pretend like we’re going to have a stack of excess cash lying around to increase the football budget by 50%. The current payroll already factors in the increased revenue coming in.
I understand your point. But schools aren’t coming after him right now. So, until they do, I don’t see the need to. What if they have a bad next two seasons?

Don’t forget we will need to pay more money to Weigman and other top players. We also need to buy more lineman to keep him upright and some fast dudes on defense. So we need to save a little more for this.

depends on how the seasons plays out.
If UH somehow reaches the CCG/CFP, then he will be under the national microscope which will add to his draft value tremendously.
If we win out but dont make the CCG/CFP, I think he may transfer. I don’t see CW taking the risk of battleing for QB1 against Keisean Henderson.
That said, i want CW to have a great story and finish his college career at UH. I hope we somehow wiggle our way into the CCG.
