Coogs in the Pros

This thread is a long time coming, been thinking about doing it the last couple years. Going to try to update all of our former players who are playing pro around the world. Thanks for doing this, Fort Worth Coogs.

I had no idea that most of those guys were even still actually playing. It seemed that some of them had just dropped off of the end of the earth, and a few of them are actually pretty close to there.

Chicken Knowles was drafted by the Grand Rapids Drive in October. They’re affiliated with the Pistons.

I believe that was last year and he didn’t make the regular season roster. I will check to see if I can find out what is going on with him now.

Another guy I left off was Alandise Harris who played in Hungary last season for a Euro Cup team, but isn’t playing anywhere so far this season.

Van Beck did not stick in the G League?

Didn’t make final roster, but thanks for the reminder he was there. Will add him to keep an eye out.

Awesome. Thanks for doing this.

House was signed by the Rockets today.

Nkali is currently playing right now against Morocco. Cameroon lost yesterday to Angola, Nkali only played 6 mins and grabbed 2 boards. Former SMU player Yanick Moreira had 13 points and 9 rebounds for Angola. Another game tomorrow for Cameroon against Egypt. Today and tomorrow’s games should be on ESPN+ for those who have that service.

A couple notable performances, Rob Gray backed up his 21 point game from last weekend with a 24 point game on Thursday for Fort Wayne. Also Devin Davis had his best game of the year for the Lakeland Magic with 6 points and 8 rebounds in 22 mins. Dotson has been on fire too, 17 and 16 in his last two.

Planned on putting together an updated season stats for all the guys when I get back home tomorrow or Monday.

I’m guessing that is a player of the game award for Xavier as he had 16 points, 16 rebounds, and 3 blocks in a win on Saturday.

Cameroon has most likely qualified for the World Cup with the upset win over Egypt. They have to wait to see if Central African Republic can go 3-0 in their games in February, which is highly unlikely because one of those games in against Nigeria.

Nkali didn’t get in the last game and only 1 minute in the previous game. Still awesome if he can keep his spot for the World Cup and would be the only Coog representing in that. (This is an Olympic qualifier year so USA basketball will use NBA guys)

Side note: LJ Rose played for the Bahamas team in qualifiers, but they got knocked out in round 1 back in the summer. He led the team in assists in his 3 games.

Just saw that the Rockets cut House again …

Interesting. House was starting to steal minutes from Gary Clark, but I guess D’Antoni likes Clark’s upside/defensive prowess more than House.

How much do you guys want to bet that the player they are making a roster spot for is Trevor Ariza?

Update for games 12/3 to 12/9:

  • Jonathon Simmons – Continues to struggle, had 7 points in 3 games this last week

  • Damyean Dotson – Had a big game on Monday with 17 points and 9 rebounds against Washington. Had 12 against Brooklyn and Charlotte

  • Rob Gray (NBA G-League) - Struggled in his last game, but had 12 points and 3 assists against Canton on the 3rd

  • Devin Davis (NBA G-League) - Very productive game with 8 points and 2 rebounds in only 9 minutes against Grand Rapids

  • Zamal Nixon (Greece A1, EuroCup) - 10 points and 6 assists in a loss in league play

  • Kelvin Lewis (Germany Pro A) - 11 points and 3 rebounds in a win which helps get his team into 3rd place

  • Oliver Lafayette (Bosnia Division 1) - Bad shooting night going 0-6 from 3, finished with 5 points and 5 assists.

  • Jahmar Thorpe (Japan B League) - Two games over the weekend, limited minutes in both. 2 points, 2 rebounds and 4 points, 3 rebounds

  • Sergio De Randamie (Holland Eredivisie) - DNP, assuming injured or released

  • Xavier Dupree (Portugal Proliga) - 17 points, 8 rebounds in a close loss

  • Danuel House – released, then signed to two way deal back with Rockets. In the 3 Rockets losses, had 6 against Minnesota, 7 against Utah, and was held scoreless in 9 mins against Dallas.

  • Joe Young (China) - 48 points and 6 assists in a loss

  • Tashawn Thomas (Israel Winner League, Champions League) - 10 points, 9 rebounds in a win in league play

  • Jaaron Simmons (Switzerland SBL) - Two games, 14 points against the Lakers (Not quite the L.A. Lakers, lol), 3 points and 4 assists in the other
