If I am not mistaken, you have just formally applied for the position of polly train conductor.
Oh, and it is “All aboard!”.

Oh, and it is “All aboard!”.
Not “Polly”. Certainly not Folly.
Call it what you will, but it’s just FACTS.
If told everyone, repeatedly, to much chagrin, what to expect. And it’s coming to fruition.
If you want to live in the past. So be it…
“Coog it” has been supplanted by “Willie Ball”.
Which, oh by the way, equates to WINNING.
Nah. Coogin it is just an example of the nature of college football. Fundamental analysis shows that IT will sometimes be COOGED.
It’s derogatory toward our program. Our Fans should not’s use it.
ridiculous notion that the past is ANY reflection
No there’s no causation, but there is a thing called path dependence, where an organization gets so devoted to certain ways of doing things that some outcomes become inevitable, no matter who the participants are.
Path dependence is a concept in the social sciences, referring to processes where past events or decisions constrain later events or decisions. It can be used to refer to outcomes at a single point in time or to long-run equilibria of a process. Path dependence has been used to describe institutions, technical standards, patterns of economic or social development, organizational behavior, and more. In common usage, the phrase can imply two types of claims. The first is the broad concept that "hi...
Definitely didn’t remember how good Navy was. I drove 4 hrs to that game and if that blippin hurricane didn’t hit feel like UH would’ve won. #6 in the nation prior to that loss
This thread is giving me some “Battered Aggie Syndrome” vibes….
Let’s not do that.
Just win baby
You left out SMU and Memphis in 2016.
However, that was not cooging it, but rather carnival barking it…… ie, Herman !!

Only if You buy into the theory, in this case, that Willie is “set in his ways”. But…. He is anything but….
He is adaptive. He tells his coaches, all the time, to find ways to maximize what his players do best. He’s had different offensive philosophies throughout his career, to match the personnel he has. He makes great adjustments. Etc…
He does have some philosophical beliefs that won’t change….
His defenses have embraced the “swarm” mentality for his whole career. He places a LOT of importance on all aspects of special teams. He ensures that his players hand the ball to the referees after every play. He doesn’t throw his players or coaches under the bus. And he honors and respects his wife.
He’s all football and family. Doesn’t golf, go to bars, etc…
…and most of all, he doesn’t “Coog it”.
It’s not whether Willie is set in his ways, it’s whether there’s something about UH athletics that transcends personnel.
It’s more obvious at UT, which should have won 30 championships with the resources and high demand culture they have, yet they constantly squander resources. Same with many other schools.
Some of us have been around long enough to notice that regardless of sport, coach, AD, president, BOR, etc., there is just this tendency to struggle to fit winning alongside the chip on one shoulder and the redhead stepchild traumabrags on the other shoulder. We are not easily yoked to the bandwagon as an organization, and that inferiority complex is not something that Willie will have changed in a season and a half. Even Kelvin Sampson hasn’t fully done it.
I understand what you’re saying.
What “I’m” saying is….
…that true culture change (not the coach-speak type that almost every head coach “claims”) is one of Willie’s secrets to success.
…and that “true culture change” transcends the stagnation and this is the way it’s always been mentality.
Ridiculed and dismissed?? Pretty sure a whole bunch of us have been behind CWF from the start. You deal with a couple of the whiners on this board and act like it represents almost everyone. It didnt then, and it doesnt now. The whiners will always find something to complain about, they always do…Calling them “chicken Littles” is a very apt description. I appreciate your postive perspective.
I try to be positive and optimistic.
I also try to be insightful and fresh in my thinking.
Most of all, I try to be respectful.
I’m not always successful in all the above.
I was around Cougar sports since 1966 and I assure everyone we never felt inferior.
Quite the opposite. We felt we could beat anyone…and did.
Once in The SWC we won the conference 3 out of our first 4 seasons.
How inferior was that?
Willie is like Yeoman. Get used to winning.
A lot. You will enjoy it.
Well said Sam.
32-0
Welcome to CoogFans @TimmyD!
Depending on how play calling goes, we might break 40 this game ![]()
They certainly are playing well. Hopefully they don’t Coogit.
For basketball- N. C. State sorta did it. For football it was the "chicken soup’ game
