So I got the Coog at -13.5. Feeling pretty good about that.
Somehow, UT is favored against Vandy with Vandy at +2.5. I ended up taking Vandy with the money line at +112.
Hate to say it, but you made a BAD bet…
You don’t think we will beat them by at least 2 touchdowns at home?
Hopefully, they might ban you for saying it!!! I know i would.
His bad bet was Vandy over Tennessee…
I predicted the Coogs over WVU…. 41-17
Vandy is playing Texas.
Wrong UT LOL
Go Vandy!
In that case, I would take Vandy. But, for the record… Tennessee is “UT”. Texas is “TEX”.
Whose record would that be? Some of us refer to Texas as ut
Tennessee is UTK
Source a UTK sorority girl that I tried to get with back in high school
Lol
Arguments for the University of Tennessee
- Older founding date:
The University of Tennessee was founded in 1794 as Blount College, making it older than the University of Texas.
- SEC recognition:
The SEC has, in some contexts, officially recognized Tennessee as the “real” UT, especially within the traditional SEC geography, notes Facebook users.
Arguments for the University of Texas
- Widespread recognition:
Texas is often seen as the “real UT” due to the high national recognition of its flagship campus and its influential status in sports and academics.
- Geographic claim:
Some fans argue Texas is the “real” UT because of its location west of the Mississippi River, a claim used in some discussions about the SEC.
- Fan perception:
Many fans simply consider Texas the “real UT” due to personal history or because it’s a common shorthand for them.
The modern context
The joining of Texas into the SEC has brought the debate to the forefront, creating a new rivalry with direct games between the two schools.
In many cases, fans and media use shorthand or branding that distinguishes between the two, such as referring to Texas as “Tex” or “UTex” to avoid confusion with Tennessee, notes The New York Times.
I understand the history, and the arguments.
IMO, Tennessee has a stronger case because they’re older and the 2 teams are now both in the SEC, which recognizes Tennessee as UT, and Texas as TEX.
Texas is UT because the school that serves as the primary topic forum is based in Texas and played the University thereof annually for a quarter century. We’ve played Tennessee thrice ever, with the most recent being almost three decades ago; they’re almost always irrelevant to this forum. We’re much more likely to save more keystrokes abbreviating Texas as UT, and it’s unlikely to be ambiguous, much in the same way nobody here thinks “Tech” refers to a school in Georgia or Virginia.
Regardless of who is the actual UT, Vandy at +2.5 seems crazy to me. I watched Texas against UK and MissSt (luckily I had MissSt at +7.5), and they looked awful. Vandy does play them in Austin so I guess that is what people are thinking. I just saw a video where someone is still talking about Texas making the CFP. I don’t know what they are watching.
I’m gonna call Tennessee, UT, because I want to piss off all the Texas lackies.
Personal name for Texas is “Choice Ground Beef”
That’s the best perspective on the topic so far…
Tennessee is UT
Texas is tu, whorns, sips, tsips and donghorns.
Every time they lose and angel gets their wings
