Italy having problems keeping numbers accurate as well
That was from January 30th when the US still considered the virus as not a problem to worry about for Americans. Not sure why so many want those terrible jobs back here anyway. Unemployment was super low already and a bunch of minimum wage, no benefit jobs weren’t wanted. Especially since it would raise prices on many everyday purchases for Americans.
Income inequality has grown tremendously while the unemployment rate was so “low.” Multiple studies have shown 50+% of American households live paycheck to paycheck. This “great” economy was only great for a small minority of the country. Granted, that’s been widening ever so much for 40+ years now. A low unemployment rate does not equate to having better jobs for more Americans. Just more jobs.
I guess we could adopt the Venezuelan Model but I don’t think that will happen anytime soon!
God Bless and pray for America!!
Those are definitely the only two choices
Museum,
That might depend upon whether or not one considers the stock market to be a part of that “great economy.” That point is, of course, debatable.
The stock market did very well during that period, and last I checked a slight MAJORITY of Americans own stock, so, yeah, at least in that regard, a MAJORITY of Americans did benefit from that great economy, though to be fair 1) a lot of stock market value has been lost in recent weeks due to COVID19, AND 2) obviously that benefitted the wealthiest members of our society proportionately more than others.
Yeah, that was my point about us not needing more low wage, no benefit jobs that people can’t live off.
Interesting article on the effectiveness of gloves.
Looks as though all military movements and exercises are being given a temporary hiatus.
Not sure where we are currently at, but need to start at the minimum using military doctors/nurses to help cities who are short staffed.
Also I know there isn’t concrete evidence with it, but after just getting back from a run, I have to believe this heat will slow the spread of virus in Texas and the south. Only issue is up here we get a mini cold front storm this weekend. Some big swings in temperature don’t help people’s immune systems.
Italy is calling on 30,000 retired doctors and nurses to pitch in!
Looking like they’re getting some positive results with chloroquine and azithromycin. It’s probably still a little early to be sure but the drug has alleviated some of the respiratory problems in some cases. I think I saw where one area or hospital was using it to treat patients.
Awesome news! Where are you seeing that?
I was watching a news program. It may have been CNN. They were discussing how an area or hospital (obviously I wasn’t watching terribly closely) was getting some positive results. But apparently results are still mixed. There;s one study (second link) where it wasn’t useful, but the control group was small. So it’s not necessarily definitive.
I’ve seen the Bloomberg article. I’ve been itching to find some positive news on its use in the US. I had been feeling pessimistic about it recently so glad to hear there is more potential good news out there.
my system is doing one of the hydroxychloroquine trials, ill let you know if i hear anything
Actually the Bloomberg story (also similar story by Forbes) is not correct. I wrote here about it yesterday. Nasim Nicolas Taleb in this twitter feed took apart both stories.
Yes, correct. I was surprised by those articles. There are doctors committed to it with their patients. I have hope! Got too. Possibly and hopefully it will solve the NYC problem. We really need it.
Yep, that is a nice analytic site. Even on my computer I needed to blow up my screen to read the X Axis on many of the graphs.
