I was at the game in Austin in 1976. I’m pretty sure the ut band marched out of the stadium about midway through 4th quarter. I believe that their PA announcer at the time was Cactus Prior. I remember him saying as the band left the stadium that the band must be trying to get an early start at the Wurstfest which was going on at New Braunfels at the time
1989: Baylor comes into the UH game #1 in pass defense. Then Andre puts up 514 yards and six touchdowns, becoming the all-time SWC passing TD leader.
No disrespect intended, but remember Grant Teaff shaking his head while watching
Teaff was as phony as a $3 bill.
Yes he was.
A true longhorn tool !!
The only good thing that Cactus did was always giving the Slippery Rock score.
He was a Texas humorist with lots of interesting stories about people and places in Texas. He had a lot of stories about President Johnson. Distinct Texas voice.
Today, in 2011 and 2015, Houston appeared in the AP Poll for the first time in each season. Both teams would climb into the top 10, with the 2011 team finishing 18th and the 2015 team ending the year ranked No. 8.
Today, in 1954, Houston used a goal-line stand to beat Coach Bear Bryant and Texas A&M.
1010 WINS:
UH has won only twice on this day - both vs. Mississippi State, both in Starkville, both coming off a loss, both times scoring 31 points:
Remember both of those games well.
UH routinely beat SEC schools in the 60s and 70s.
09 Starkville was the worst experience I’ve had as a visitor. The game was plenty fun, but those fans are gawd awful, and the cowbell thing is a war crime. The fake POW camp at Navy survival school was easy after 6 hours in Starkville. I wanted to go to Lubbock after that.
Excellent detective work to uncover that obscure fact. It sounds like one of those obscure facts handicappers throw out to justify their pick.
