Curt Cignetti

It’s hilarious that Law put IU in the same category as Oregon. When Phil Knight just gives Oregon athletics his banking info and tells them to charge whatever they want.

I would be surprised if IU was in the top half of NIL in the B1G.

Nevertheless, they have a big NIL sugar daddy.

Period.

Full stop.

All the top contenders these days have either that OR a large highly donative fan base.

Don’t let anybody tell you any differently.

You said they were on par with Oregon. Which you couldn’t be more wrong about. Top half of B1G NIL is their best case.

They are not outspending Oregon, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Penn State.

Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State all have large donative fan bases.

If you don’t have that, then you at least need a big NIL sugar daddy.

Tech, Oregon, and Indiana all have that.

Those are the FACTS Bro.

Now then, I’m not saying that they have as much NiL as Oregon or Tech, strictly speaking.

But I am saying that all three are in a class by themselves PRECISELY because they all have that one other thing in common that helps you contend: a really big NIL sugar daddy.

That’s a fact, and it isn’t really disputable.

Good effort though.

Except that the facts are exactly what I said they were.

Tech, Oregon, and Indiana are all examples of contenders with a really big NIL sugar daddy, regardless of whether they match each other per se, or match NIL powerhouses that generate it through their large donative fan bases (OSU, PSU, Michigan, etc).

Apparently, the fact that Indiana does indeed have a. big NIL sugar daddy “doesn’t matter” to you or JoPrior.

So given that……pot…meet kettle.

Sorry if that FACT doesn’t support YOUR feelings.

YOUR feelings don’t change the facts.

Your bias is clearly due to your allegiance to one of your many side-teams. Claiming Indiana’s success is due to Cuban isn’t going to help Illinois even if it makes you feel better, kiddo.

I never said it was solely due to Cuban.

To use a JoPriorIsm….why are you making stuff up?

I simply REJECT the theory that IU’s success is either a) solely due to Cignetti, or b) not at least partially attributable to the assistance of an NIL sugar daddy like Cuban.

I realize that YOU may “feel” differently, but again, the facts don’t entirely support YOUR feelings to that effect.

But again, I guess when the facts don’t match your feelings, that doesn’t matter to you, as you would say.

It is indeed a FACT that Indiana has a big NIL sugar daddy and that does indeed play a role in their success, regardless of any feelings to the contrary you may have.

Do you have any facts to support this? How much did Cuban provide in NIL funding? How much has Fertita given in NIL funding? Yes, you can make an argument that Fertita is our sugar daddy.

lol Cignetti has won on evaluations and not just money whipping players.

They have money but so do a lot of schools.
He took a lot of his roster from JMU to IU & they’re beating teams like Oregon and Ohio State.

According to Google AI, it’s undisclosed, BUT….

Quote: Mark Cuban made a significant, unspecified “big number” donation directly to Indiana Athletics, including football, in late 2024, prompted by new coach Curt Cignetti and the evolving NIL landscape

Anyway, I cut and pasted that.

Can’t say how reliable it is, but again, I think it would be extremely naive for anyone to believe that Cuban’s NIL didn’t play a role in IU’s recent success.

Unless I’m mistaken, donating to Indiana Athletics is different than funding a NIL.

It says it was prompted by the NIL landscape.

Again, it’d be naive to think NIL wasn’t a part of the.

Imma just leave this here but will note that IU is listed as the last of the P4 CFP teams and listed as solid NIL spender way below the elite spenders of Oregon, Ohio State, Tech, Miami and A&M.

Indiana’s may be lower than those.

But Cuban’s NIL also undoubtedly played a role.

In the article it says IU passed the median spending of Big 12 football programs in 2024 at $61.6 million.

It also talks about Cignetti’s ability to evaluate talent and spend $ where it’s needed…

And it also quotes the NIL collective leader as saying that young folks are actually leading their NIL donations because they like the intimate interactions with athletes… so quasi-bucket #2

Notice their transfers… RB, C, Tackle, DT & QB… All areas Cignetti knew he had to address.

lol. And they still have maybe a top half of the B1G NIL. Indiana is winning games more because of Cig than top spending from their NIL. Those are the facts, bro.

If Fritz makes the CFP, he might have the record of being the oldest HC and first grandpa to do it.

Cignetti is 64… he’s probably a grandpa…
