Did UH and Architects in the resdesign of Fertitta leave any room for expansion?

Yes but you need to know your fanbase and demand to price when people will stop buying. UH needs be really careful becasue there are many alumni who are not big donors who have both basketball and football season tickets. If not careful you are going to start pricing fans out to where they have to choose between buying season tickets for football or basketball and not both. Plus the goal has always been to get the programs back to high levels. They built TDECU with the plans and thought of football becoming a power again and designed the stadium with expansion in mind, yet UH did not to do the same with basketball. We have seen three straight years of season tickets selling out and the success of basketball is continuing and its growth going into the Big 12. There is already a track in place for a high demand of fans who would like to buy season tickets but cant because none left when reduced the compacity by 1,000+ seats not even looking at expanding more seats. UH did not plan at all for the resurgence of basketball by making FC designed to be expandable. Aslo Ferittta is in entertainment and he of all people should understand getting the most out of an assett. When basketball season is not going on FC is pretty much unused outside volleyball. UH missed a big opportunity by not even designing FC with future expansion in mind when it comes to using the arena a extra revenue source from concerts, wrestling, and other events.

All I know is if I had a say, I’d put the donor section behind the announcers table. Let the students get that whole area.

I don’t want to price average fans out. Hell, I’m one of them. I guess I want our program to be priced where they are rewarded for their excellence.

Fertitta doesnt care. Big time games can be played at the toyota center if higher attendance is what the want.

Who’s money is it?
We are arguing about what, could, should.
We are almost back to the Mr. Guy Lewis years. The BIG12 grind will be even more competitive. Let’s see what happens in a number of years and reassess. Until then we are selling out. What I want to see are 7k’s fans jumping up and down the entire game. I want to see an ACDC/SOCCER like atmosphere. That impacts the opponent. Everything else are waisted words.

What would be nice is if UH put a policy in place that if your season tickets don’t get scanned in to at least half of the games then you can’t renew them next season; if there is, in fact, a legit waiting list…

Economics 101 says . . . . . don’t give your prime product / service for FREE . . . . .

Good idea, as long as anyone with perfect attendance gets first shot at upgrade/purchase option . . . . .

Let’s just admit, UH is a for profit school, taking advantage of captive pricing like at movie theaters or professional venues.

I don’t like that

Perhaps… but for a television audience it brings a certain amount of energy to the broadcast to be packed out with students. television market is where we will bring in the money.

The rockets suffered from this at their recent peak. Sold a bunch of courtside ST to large corporations instead of fans.

Then we are wondering why Toyota Center is quiet during playoff games.

We had over 7,700 for Alabama. So we’re really only 300 seats short of an ideal situation.

CKS wanted to keep our home court arena small so by my definition, we are already at an ideal situation! If CKS is happy, I’m happy!

According to CKS, we need to continue to make upgrades to keep the GVL training center and Fertitta center state-of-the-art but seating capacity is not a really big factor.

I dont think the regents or administration foreseen UH going into the Big 12 when they remodel Hoffeinz. If they did i promise they would had maybe would had added more seats. Not much more but 8-8.5k in capacity!

I’d be happy if they expanded restroom capacity. Seriously…WTF?

They should bring in some portable rest rooms

Haha restrooms are only a problem if you gotta take a crapper. Just get yo shy a$$ to the urinal. lol

There’s always a line, but the line moves fast.

On the other hand, there’s always a line at the end of the game as well, and that causes a serious choke point as everyone’s trying to leave the arena.

Why hasn’t Duke expanded?
You see the tarps/screens for UT’ Moody Arena? At least they have screens. A place like A&M just has 7k empty seats despite having 65k students.

Didnt ut open a new arena,

@firstandten UT puts down these projector screens over the upper deck seats for Basketball games

Then for concerts, those seats are made available

That’s UT for ya. Not a great basketball fanbase.
