Does Wood shine this much if our Offense was an uptempo, quick-strike offense?
We were one of the best D’s in the country per game. Most of the time, they saw fewer plays than most teams.
We will be good again on D next year.
And when we get a quality OC, we will be better than good.

Per CFB Stats,
UH was 128th in Offensive Plays per game with 61
UH was 20th in Defensive Plays per Game with 64
There were a lot of teams that had their D on the field for 10-20 more plays that our D played.
And if we improve our O just a little bit to like 80th, then our D faces 60 or less plays per game.
I can see where our O takes a BIG step forward, and this will help the D take a step forward, even with a new DC.
The guy has had 7 different jobs in 8 years! He always leaves, so stop whining about it…Tech’s passing and always emphasis on the offense will put way more stress on their D than we did with our always run and east up the clock offense. Techs D will be average to good and he’ll bail on them like he does everybody else. We were good on defense last year because we went out and signed some really good defensive players from the portal. We need to do it again, and we’ll be fine. Fritz’s teams always play good defense.

If it was the SEC? Fine
If it was the Big Ten? Fine
Hell… if it was a HC gig in the ACC/Big 12/G5…. Fine.
But a lateral move? It either was for personal reasons or UH just couldn’t cough up the money.
Yes. We keep our class and we’ll find a new DC. No need to blame UH for a DC leaving that averages less thsn 2 years at his stops. Stop crying Coogfans

A forum is to express our opinions the way we see it. I could care less if he had multiple jobs/stops. It takes one opportunity to make you settle. Did U of H intend to keep him at the same contract value or knew that he was going to leave no matter what? Most coaches are extended when they over produce like he did. We did not extend him. That is the question that I would like to hear the answer to.

Wood produced under CWF for two seasons and proved his worth at every stop he had.

He also stepped up in role or program every time he left. This was a lateral move. And UH couldn’t find enough money to keep him. But a conference rival could.
