Man, that’s really not the case at all. Their advantage has come from B12 resources and more recently being the beneficiaries of some very generous donors with oil and gas money. They’re definitely not rolling in old money.
If he’s good at UH, another school is going to poach him. Pay competitive salaries!

Maybe we offered Wood $900K to $1M and he got more at Tech but we didn’t think he was worth that much of a bump.
We beat out Tech for Kingston Flemings in hoops.

His wife is an internist doctor. I don’t think the bag is all he’s after. However, I don’t know if she’s been practicing the last couple years. He stayed at home with the infant kids about a decade ago while she was in residency so he can’t be all bad.

I wouldn’t have come out and said that publicly if I was Fritz. Yes we are a poverty school and yes we are much poorer than Tech but the whole world doesn’t need to know that.
