Divisions?

Matchups that generate the possibility of the most viewers will be the overriding factor when it comes to scheduling, one of the main reasons big state universities that are in big tv markets

Trying ti make the rivalry schedule gets really complicated really fast.

I’ll spell it out for you.

Oklahoma State:
Permanent Opponents: Kansas, Iowa State, Cincy

Year 1&2
Kansas, Iowa State, Cincy, Tech, Baylor, UCF, Arizona, Colorado, BYU

Year 3&4
Kansas, Iowa State, Cincy, Houston, TCU, WVU, ASU, KSU, Utah

As you can see here, everyone is played minimum twice in 4 years. They go to Texas every year.

Now do it for every school’s rivalries it gets really complicated. Believe me I’m trying to make a list just off rivalries and playing in Texas, geography be dammed.

I hope the Saudis are paying our travel fund… sigh

Says who? TCU-UH has little historical rivalry. 2 good games in their history? Generally when UH was good TCU sucked and when TCU was good UH was not. I do see UH with Tech and BU as bigger rivals.

It’s really not complicated. Time consuming if one wants to do it by hand but that’s why we have computers and can let a program do it. Geezus… every conference schedule gets made by a computer. lol

I spent like 5 minutes on the list of rivals I posted earlier in the thread. For a billion dollar industry, spending a few hours on a schedule seems pretty minimal.

Ya agreed.

Ya but the money says otherwise in this and I would bet dollars to cents every Texas matchup would crush the ratings.

based on?

Like the most complicated part is the initial discussion setting up the permanent opponents. Once that’s done and agreed to then the schedule practically runs itself.

Ease of travel for one and the fact that we shared a conference. And the UH TCU game is already predicted to have massive ratings this year. Then there is the fact that each matchup literally markets itself.

I’m actually going to spend time when I get home making one just for funzies and then post it.

Travel is a plus, agree, but TCU shared a conference with BYU and Utah also.

Ratings will be higher for teams that are winning more so than geographical location. TCU-UH will be very high if both winning, UH-UCF would be higher if both winning.

Do you know who the opponent was when TCU set their stadium attendance record (without looking it up)?

Why wouldn’t TCU get OSU by proximity?

I want to say OSU but I don’t follow TCU.

Most would guess UT or A&M, but it is Utah.

Makes sense Utah travels well. I’m still trying of the opinion the Texas matchups make for the most obvious growth potential and same for ratings.

As a UH fan, I hope to God you’re joking. For a school that’s been stuck in the doldrums of playing directional and 2nd tier state & private universities with small followings, you absolutely need Houston to play everyone in the conference.

Exposure and success are key for Houston’s survival if we get to a 2 conference format one day.
