I put together a potential list in this thread back around post 39/40.
Not true, Tech was always Big 12 north.
I just want to play Baylor every year, whether itâs in a division of 4 schools or 8 schools.
I do not want to play Rape u if I had a choice. That is one school in the entire big 12 that I hope didnât exist. I will happily exchange that with most schools.
Again, to me, itâd be cool to have all the Texas schools have each other as their âsetâ rivals.
I think a lot of people would agree with you. Like back in the SWC days.
UH would have good rivalries with Tech as both being Texas public schools and the Baylor on the basketball side will be great. TCU/UH both in Texas but not as good as the other 2.
I think 2 of 3 would make for a nice compromise to keep people happy outside of the Texas based schools. UT caused problems in the past with it. Plus on the TCU side, I think Utah would be a bigger rival than UH based on the past 20 years. Not as sure on the UH side, but I like the UCF angle, but that might come from working at NASA for many years.
I think the having all the Texas schools in one pod being a problem is overblown. The bigger issue to them is exposure in Texas and that issue is easily corrected. If we were still a 12 team conference I could see it being a slight problem. But at 16, and with UT gone, the non Texas teams are a far bigger voting block. So they really shouldnât have to worry about four teams creating problems for the other 12.
And I can assure you that Utah would much rather play itâs former PAC teams consistently than play TCU. The travel for the Utah fans is easier in that pod too.
IDK why I thought that⊠2011 was about the time I went full bore red and blue. Grew up diehard horn until a man name keenum threw 9 touchdowns and I was sold
I was at that rice game It was a blast! You picked a good game to become a fan.
Yeah, I want to play BU every year, but I also would like for all Texas schools to be in the same division, even if itâs a group of four. I feel like all schools will be playing in Texas at one time or another anyways with four of us available to play them.
Am3260, I came up with the exact same North/South split. I suppose Okie State might not like it, and the Arizona schools might want to be grouped with Utah and Colorado, but itâs a nice setup from the UH perspective. I also think it has the potential to develop some nice, new rivalries.
Also, I want to point out that weâre already in a 14 team league this season and donât have divisions so weâre not going to have divisions when we go to 16 next season.
What we want or whatâs best for us isnât necessarily whatâs best for the conference or what the conference wants/needs. So realistically, theyâre going to do a protected/permanent plus format that spreads all the Texas teams around. Houston gets paired with Tech. Baylor with TCU. And then we each get 2 or 3 different teams if they want to give a Texas school to each other team.
Too many logistical issues with that. You would have schools that would never play each other and entire players career. And it makes not sense to make it that overly complicated anyway.
Thatâs not the case. Under protected/permanent plus each team would play every other team twice every four years. Thereâs not anymore logistical issues than there already would be and complicated for who? It just takes some programming in a computer.
They should do 4 team pods
That keeps most rivalries intact w/o convoluted scheduling
We could ask for a ucf annual space game as a out of pod exception
Az asu ut byu west pod
Cu osu ku kst. North pod
Uh bu tcu tt sw pod
Uc ucf wv isu. East pod
This way you always play your own pod
You just rotate pods around so you play everyone every 3 years
With one additional annual conference game with a cross pod rival for each team
Ours is ucf. Space race game
Then you add a secondary cross pod rival that you play every 2 years. For us byu. Red v blue cougar game. This is for the years when your annual cross pod rivalâs pod rotates into your schedule
This would make for the most qty and quality rivalries imo
Oh ok then thatâs basically what I said. Except I would just keep the Texas schools together because that generates more money then separating them, and it still gives every team a game in Texas every year.
I can see why most people have you on ignore
Who me? What for?
The Pothead Division has only seven teams.
The Hillbilly Division has nine.
