Divisions?

Exactly

But don’t hillbillies smoke weed?

Right. I read up on the SEC’s setup, which is similar to the Big 10’s and the ACC’s, and every team will play each team home and away in alternating two-year cycles. It’s almost a given that that’s how the Big 12 will go about the standings and scheduling.

Except Georgia has not played in College Station since the aggies joined the SEC.

They’re just going to the new setup next season.

This is due to the SEC only doing an 8 game conference schedule instead of 9 like other conferences.

Ahh ok.

Thanks for the clarification that makes sense.

I definitely like the 4 divisions you laid out because it just makes sense from a regional
standpoint. The divisions would fight the criticism of conference expansion breaking up regional rivalries.

Cool article, just an idea of how they would break down the possible divisions. I like north/south but the writer says East to west would make more sense logistically

SCENERIO #1:
EAST

Central Florida, Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, West Virginia.

WEST

Arizona, Baylor, Arizona State, BYU, Colorado, TCU, Texas Tech, Utah

SCENERIO #2:
NORTH

BYU, Cincinnati, Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Utah, West Virginia

SOUTH

Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Central Florida, Houston, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech

Don’t like the East/West.

I dig the North/South.

I like it too but if it is four-team pods (and I doubt it will be) then chances are UH would end up with UCF, Cincinnati, and WVU.

Puts UH on an Island and makes us travel the most. NO, NO, No!!!

There won’t be a Texas pod. Just not going to happen. If you do a Texas pod then a legacy Big 12 member is getting screwed in the Midwest.

Neither.
West
UH Baylor TCU TT, AU, ASU, Ut, and BYU
East
CO OSU UK KSU ISU Cincy WVU and UCF

Yes, I fear that we are likely to be pushed East under most scenarios.

Here are my thoughts
if it is a requirement that each team plays at least one game in Texas every year

If we do divisions:

Division 1: Kansas, KSU, ISU, W. Va., Cinn, UCH, UH TCU
Division 2: Utah, BYU, CO, AZ, ASU, Tech, Baylor, OSU

If we do pods with a pod playing all the teams in their pod every year, all the teams in a different pod everyeyae, and then 2 protected teams in the pods they don’t play every year

Pod 1: UH, UCF, OSU, BYU
Pod 2: Bay, W.Va, KSU, Utah
Pod 3: TCU, Cinn, Kan, AZ
Pod 4: Tech, ISU, CO, ASU

So for example:
Year 1: UH plays all the teams in their pod (UCF, OSU, and BYU) all the teams in Pod 2 (Bay, W.Va, KSU, and Utah) and then 2 protected teams from Pod 3 and Pod 4 (TCU and Tech)
Year 2: UH plays UCF, OSU, and BYU and then TCU, Cinn, Kan, and AZ and then Baylor and Tech)
Year 3: UH plays UCF, OSU, BYU, And then Tech, ISU, CO, and ASU, and then Baylor and TCU.

This pod system is similar to what Mr Hobbes proposed, it functions like there is the same heritage type pods, but it would allow two teams from Texas in a champsionship game.

Florida and Ohio produce a lot of top prospects, too. I don’t think we need to guarantee that every team plays in Texas every year.

That doesn’t make any sense. How are they getting screwed? If you look at other team’s boards the only thing they care about is having a guaranteed game in Texas every year. You seem to be under the impression that for unexplainable reasons the legacy schools would be against it even though thats how it was the majority of the big 12’s time before we got invited.
