Early expectations

I was hoping for a 6 win season and capped my extreme hopes at 7, maybe 8 with a lazy bowl. Assuming a 9 or 10 win season is happening, what is the expectation for next year? Do we have Utah or byu on the schedule? What is our non conference. Anything less than what would be a build off this season?

If we go out and win 8-9 next year, are we happy. Just wondering where we are.

Road schedule is much tougher, 9 wins again will be harder to achieve

Also feel free to talk about next year’s attendance and definitely if ut or atm is your favorite.

I’ll wait to see what happens with transfers and recruits before making a judgement. That being said, I said 6-6 and a bowl would be considered successful this year, so my expectations were met.

Oregon state, southern and Georgia Southern non conference.

3-0

Home: Baylor, Oklahoma State, Cincinnati, and UCF

3-1

Away: Utah, Colorado, Tech, Kansas State, and West Virginia.

2-3

8-4ish. 5-4 big 12. Somewhere around 4th to 6th place?

We will have massive turnover after this season and we don’t know our two deep yet. We have a very good high school recruiting class coming in if we can actually sign them.

Until we find out who may be leaving for the portal and who we will have coming in from the portal it is really hard to make a reasonable prediction for next year.

But with all that aside, I predict we will win at least 11 regular season wins, win the CCG, and going deep in the CFP, possibly winning a natty.

We play in the Big 12…a conference with no juggernauts at the top.

We should be a playoff contender each and every season.

2026- should land a playoff spot and get post season experience

2027- National Champion contender.

Yes! That is realistic…CWF will be in his 4th year and we will continue to bring in quality recruits / transfers

We aren’t going 2-3:vs those road teams…4-1 is more realistic

damn imagine saying this 2 years ago. In Willie we trust :sob: :sob:

With a coach like Willie we have the potential to be a perennial 9+ win team.

I think I said 7 wins max on a thread here, and figured I was being overly optimistic. Getting nine was above my expectations. And we all know it coulda/shoulda been more. I figured that CWF would have ā€˜his’ team on the field in his third yaer…and another nine win season in '26, given the tougher schedule and uncertainty of roster churn, would work for me.

TBH… who knows anymore? Teams turn over so much nowadays from season to season that making predictions this far in adavance is kind of silly. But its what we do, right? :grinning:

Yeah, too early for me to really take even a crack at it…

In another thread, I did say we have a new floor. I’ll stand by that.

Last season my floor was 7 and my ceiling was 10. In 2026, I only feel comfortable, at this point, with a floor of 8. So, up by 1 from last year. No ceiling without seeing a roster.

Like you said… too many unknowns.

Yes! Dont become "that’ fanbase this is the big 12.

Teams that wear red have a good chance of making the CFB playoffs so hopefully it works in our favor soon.

Bama, Georgia, Tech, OU, Indiana, and Ohio State.

Away
Utah — toss up
Colorado — win
Tech — loss
Kansas State — toss up
West Virginia — win

Home
Baylor — win
Oklahoma State — win
Cincinnati — win
Ucf — win

I think 9-3 is very, very possible. 11-1 wouldn’t surprise me

Perhaps if it were this years team, we have no clue what a lot of the roster will look like.

Pretty confident in saying the floor is 8 wins.

As for the ceiling? Way to early…

Regardless of roster. If the roster sucks then Willie is on the hook on why we peaked in year 2. I am assuming he puts together a roster that makes sense. 8-4 is my basement next year regardless of roster. If he goes out in the portal and strikes out I am not lowering my bar because of his lack of job performance/

You said the same thing I did, but with a bunch of added stuff about Willie potentially failing.

So. Here’s what that looks like…

ā€œI will agree with you until you say something stupid. Then I may still agree with you, but you’ll still be stupidā€.

This graphic is why I love the Houston blue uniforms…so unique. Having said that…for the OP, we have no idea about next season until we see the recruiting class on Dec 3rd and see what happens with the transfer portal.

Yep.

This entire thread is ā€œprematureā€.

I started one for 2025 back in August of this year (about 4 months ago).

IMO, this thread is 8 months early. It’s almost all speculation. Like throwing darts at a dartboard… blindfolded, over your shoulder, left handed.

So your expectations are going to be based on what happens in the offseason? So if we have a bad off season are you ok with a 6 win season as a success?
