anything less than 10-2 and its a disppointment. tech and at utah are the only tough games. west virginia was forgiveable last year but the coogs know they are good and have a very good qb in a conference that is not the sec or big10.
Weigman isnât coming back just to win 8 games and go to an okay bowl. The goal is the Conference Championship Game and the CFP.
âŠand this is true for all 16 teams in the Big 12.
Do you really think Oklahoma State is setting a goal of reaching the CFP next season? Seriously?
After Cignetti took Indiana to the playoffs in his first season and won the natty in his second, every school that hires a new coach hopes for similar success.
2 years ago, the team picked to finish last in the Big12 won the conf and made the playoffs.
Last year, Houston went from a 4 win season to a 10 win season.
So, yes, every team has a shotâŠ
Kind of⊠But just look at this board last year, almost no one here set a goal of making the CFP for last season. Most people were talking about 6-7 wins (just making a bowl). I wasnât posting here but I was on the high side calling for 8.
For the record, Iâm optimistic about next season.
As the dust settles I honestly donât think we too last year. Thinking 9-3 going to a bowl.
I think the schedule is very favorable.
2-10 OSU
11-1 TTU
Georgia southern 6-6
UCF 5-7
6-6 k state
1-11 OSU
Utah 10-2
7-5 Cincy
3-9 Colorado
4-8 WVU
5-7 Baylor
We need to make the playoffs
10-2
I donât think 10-2 will be enough for the playoff. The CFP will likely only take 1 B12 team unless after the B12 championship the 2 teams from the game both have 1 loss (so a 1 loss teams beats an undefeated). Then maybe the CFP puts both in.
I think the B12 championship will be BYU vs UH/TT. BYU doesnât play either team in the regular season so i think they get there. The UH/TT game is vital for us. The winner will hold the tie breaker. We need to win that game.
I am not going to sleep on osu and their overhaul with new coaches and players. No idea how their defense will be but they are going to hang 50 on some folks.
Sounds a lot like âStrive for perfection, but settle for excellenceâ- Walt Disney
I could have cut and pasted this from one of my posts last year. I want to see the OL gel at the start of the season, as UH has some new players on the line. Also:
- How Weigman develops chemistry with WRs not named Amare Thomas.
- How much does Keisean Henderson see the field? I have no intel, but I think Coach Fritz will get him involved more than we may think. I would like some plays specifically designed for Henderson in the red zone.
- How Makhi Hughes looks at RB, which will depend on how the OL is gelling.
- Assuming transfer Patrick Overmyer starts at TE, can he be a similar weapon in the offense as Tanner Koziol?
- How does Anthony Boswell look taking over the Center duties?
- How strong of leg and accurate is K Evan Noel?
- How does UH replace DL Carlos Allen?
- UH signed DL transfers Ashton Porter, DeMarion Thomas, Ejiroghene Egodogbare, LB transfers Jayden Yates and Miller Malone, and S Javion White. How quickly do they pick up the system and contribute?
The Spring game is closer than we think.
This would suck then. We need a 16 team playoff. 10-2 its pretty hard as a P4 team.
âBowellâ. Thatâs funny.
Fixed it. Thanks for catching.
Yeah, kind of funny.
Looks like you hit almost all the key concerns.
Perhaps replacing the kicker is another.
