Mara was the secret to Michigan’s success. Dude absolutely owned the paint on defense. Proves that there’s still a lot of value in having a dominant big down low even if they’re not much of a stretch 5 like they have to be in the nba. Excited to see us play with Diane next season, he has real potential to affect the game in a similar way.
Mara played both ways. That is why Michigan was so dominant!!
For sure. He was dominant in the paint on both ends but it was his work on defense that helped Michigan completely shut down opponents. Their defense was ranked #1 for a reason this year and it all starts with having a smart 7’3 elite defender patrolling the paint at all times.
Where is the boomage
Yeah, their defense was elite. The way they played reminded me of some of the defenses we’ve seen under Sampson.
FWIW

Thought Arizona could break that trend.
But their freshmen (Burries & Peat) played like freshmen in the biggest game.
Just like ours did.
Duke, Kansas, Arizona or Michigan are not winning the championship next year then. Book it! Lol
Top 4 freshman classes.
I think we’ll more than likely have 3 starters from this year in McCarty, Jojo & Mercy… or Mercy as 6th man…
Depends on the transfers. We’ll know soon. They’re sum great transfers out there i’m keeping a close look at.
Kyle, who would you start over Mercy if he’s our number 6 off the bench ?
So did our seniors.
But Michigan was full of them and won the championship lol
A transfer possibly… nobody currently on the roster…
My faith in the future of UH basketball is restored after reading the CBS Sports/FanDuel odds to win it all in 2027. UH is #5. No phony-baloney polls. Odds are financial calculations. Not some hack looking for subscribers.

I mean Vegas odds are not always predictive or based on stats either. They are based on bettor’s sentiments. That’s why the Cowgirls always have a higher win total predicted than expected each year, because Vegas knows they will get a ton of “over” bets anyways.
Last 7 NBA MVPs were not born in the US:
- came to the US junior/senior HS then college
- or played professionally in Europe
6 out of those 7 MVPs - were big men….
These odds are bogus because they don’t know what any of these teams final rosters will be.
