Early look into Next Season

Anyone thinking otherwise was pretty delusional

Coach declared for him :joy:

Mercy hasn’t earned a starting spot, regardless of how much he has paid his dues. Same with everyone else returning, including Jojo.

The only thing anyone on this team earns is a chance to compete. If the guy you’re competing against is better than you, he will take your minutes.

Case in point: Ramon went from 18 to 15 to 11mpg in mostly garbage time. Regardless of his work ethic and heart, he wasn’t the best fit for the rotation, and he lost his minutes.

You never know. Boogie Fland and Darrion Williams were projected late first round last year and returned to college after attending the combine and getting feedback. If he gets good feedback, he’s gone. If not he can withdraw from the draft within 10 days post combine. I can’t imagine he would post something along the lines of “just testing the waters” which does nothing to help his draft stock.

Correct.

And he said that Mercy and Chase were good enough to start

which of course they are.

But they will have to earn it as you said
.he didn’t say they would start.

If snacks is gone so is Flemings, he might as well declare and put us out of our misery

Unlikely but not delusional at all. His projected draft slot is late first so $3Mish range per year NBA contract. College teams could easily match/exceed that and sell him on moving into the lottery pick range next year with a weaker draft class and another year of development.

Clearly though for it to potentially happen, UH (and Fertitta really) would have had to put a big number in front of him and that doesn’t seem to have happened.

Flemings, yes, he is gone and thinking otherwise is delusional. He is looking at a multi year contract in the $7-9M range per year in the NBA which is way too rich for UH.

He also can be drafted late 1st, play in G League and come back to UH mid season lol.

I know Kyle, I was just posting where CKS said it.

There’s nothing preventing him from going through the NBA evaluations, get a sense of where he sits, and then come back for $3M.

We’ve seen how many guys do that now? Sasser, Uzan, Grimes come to mind, plus others I’m sure.

I still don’t think the door is fully closed on Cenac.

its such a long process to the end of the draft process that i think its probably closed. we have to roster up without him

Yeah
I think CKS learned a lesson on that last year

I would say it is closed after this weekend if we bring in Burton and Gillespie. The NIL $ will be gone between them two and locking up Jo Jo, McCarty, and Miller. The only way that might change is if we move on with our roster building and Cenac later asks to come back later and Fertitta is willing to just cut a $4M check. I’d doubt that as I’ve never really felt Fertitta operates like that even though he does provide some financial support according to those in the know. Wouldn’t be shocked if he pulls his name later and then a Texas Tech, Kentucky, Arkansas, Michigan type teams cuts him a $5-6M check to come back for another year.

But if he pulls his name from the draft in 6 weeks, you reopen the door for him, don’t you? (Assuming someone comes up with the :heavy_dollar_sign::heavy_dollar_sign::heavy_dollar_sign:)

More than Tillman support the program
happy for his support but he is not alone

Wide tf open.

I dont think we need to use any point of the draft as a significant timepoint though since its now accepted that you can go back to college whenever you feel like it as long as you havent received professional money yet. You can go back to college any time you want until you get paid by an NBA team (so far! who knows whats next)

I mean Bediako cheated and played for Alabama after he was paid professional money for basketball. And they didnt like vacate wins or anything when the court said, yes this actually is illegal. He just stopped playing. There are no rules!

So as of now who are we in decent shape for? Gillespie and Burton? Are we still making charges for Diobaute from Kentucky and the Byrd guy from SDSU?
