This could be a well orchestrated power play.

It’s only 99% chance they are leaving

Yeah I’m sure they would burn their bridge to the SEC in order to wring a couple dollars more out of the big12

Lol. This is over.

UT/OU are not going to be a member of the Big 12 going forward.

Plus Abbott is a UT alum. He already knew this was in the works.

if Bohls’ tweet is accurate, hats off to the SEC leadership and the OU/UT athletic depts for maintaining the cloak of secrecy so effectively. Those are serious secret squirrel-level discussions. The Aggies’ heads must have exploded when they finally got word of this.

I seriously think that the power that government had over conferences in 1992 is about 100% less today. The only governing powers that control anything is espn, Fox, maybe some of the networks.

The Ann Richards thing would be laughed out of Bristol today.

Duh, more money!

What Would the Big 12 Look like without Oklahoma and Texas? | Pistols Firing (pistolsfiringblog.com)

Includes Houston.

"Houston: To me, the Cougars are the obvious choice for an addition to the Big 12.

"The University is in a prime spot in fourth-most populous city in the U.S., and Houston’s student enrollment of about 45,000 trumps that of the remaining Big 12 schools.

"As far as athletics go, the Cougars have been on the cusp for a leap from Group of Five to Power Five for years. The University had a clause in Tom Herman’s contract that he would get a bonus should Houston join a Power Five league, and it added a similar clause in Dana Holgorsen’s deal. So, the Cougs have been posturing for this for a while now.

“Since joining the American in 2013, the Houston football team has gone 60-38, spanning the tenures of Herman, Major Applewhite and Holgersen. The Cougars also have a blossoming basketball program headed by Kelvin Sampson. The Cougars made the Final Four this past season.”
