His Senior Year at Cornerstone Christian he ran for 500 yards and 11 TD’s. He passed for 1100 yards and 13 TD’s with 1 interception.

He transferred to Cornerstone from powerhouse Converse Judson.

The Arkansas recruiter was Kendall Briles. Himself an All State QB at Stephenville Kendall played for UT, then transferred to UH when his Father,Art, became Head Coach. Kendall recruited Clayton Tune at UH when he was our O.C. Kendall is a QB, an All Stater, and perhaps has his Father’s eye for QB talent.

Lucas Foley does not appear to be chopped Liver. Dana spotted him over 3 years ago.

While Dana might well pursue a Transfer QB it becomes fairly possible that he will not. Lucas starts in Spring Training, with Holman Edwards #2.

Tune has no real incentive to,play.

The Tulsa QB ran and was sometimes successful.

The QB runs at LSU,Alabama, USC, and many other schools.

Coley running the football, better than how Tune ran, might be a difference maker.

Predict that Dana lets him run in Spring practice.

Tune’s incentive to play is that there’s a good chance it’s the last game of Football he plays in his life. He’s probably not getting drafted. Optimistically, he might play in the XFL or the USFL. Odds are, though, the next time he walks into a Football stadium he’ll be paying to be there.

I don’t get the angst among our fans about Coley. I get that he has seemed limited action but there is not enough of a sample size to make a judgement one way or the other.

He should have gotten more snaps during the season? When was there mop up time during a game? UH was trying to win those games.

Of all the criticisms you can blame CDH for, this is not one of them.

Tune may get drafted. He has the size typical of an NFL QB, and he’ll probably put up some good stats at the combines.

But I think he’ll play in the bowl simply because I believe he has already accepted a bid to be in a post-season all-star game that would be after the bowls are concluded. Isn’t the Shrine Bowl played in February?

This bowl game should not interfere with that.

COOGFANS: I only want a quarterback who has experience taking snaps and running an offense. Coley isn’t the guy.

COLEY: I’m ready to take snaps and run the offense. Give me the experience, and I can show you what I can do.

COOGFANS: No. That’s not how it works here at UH. We don’t have a history of growing our own quarterbacks. Sit down, Coley. We need experience.

ETA: Honestly, it seems the biggest knock on Coley is that Tune wasn’t injured this year to give Coley extended game experience.

I don’t think that someone who is as involved on the sideline as Coley was this season is jumping to the portal… Just my $0.02…

I didn’t realize he was smart enough to get into Yale as well… Should be no issues with knowing the FULL PLAYBOOK next year.

Asked sincerely: What is the basis for believing that he would want to leave? He’s the favorite to be a starter next year. Is the idea “We suck so he gone”?
