again, you are inferring my words to mean what you wish them to mean for yourself.
my original point was that we do not have choice for holidays and each of us is excluded in some way by some; so eliminate them all and we then have the freedom to use our personal time.
i would be in favor of that too as the usa is behind most of europe n time off, but the solution that is fair to everyone is more personal time so they could use as they wish.
we do not really have choice when it comes to federal and state holidays; that’s the point i keep making.
How are you specifically excluded by MLK Jr Day and Juneteenth? Please be specific.
You have the choice of what to do with those days off. But just like with Saturdays and Sundays, you don’t get to choose the calendar.
You also have the choice to pursue other religious holidays from your employer under the Civil Rights Act, if the “free” holidays don’t align with your religious obligations.

Dude lives in a representative democracy acting like he doesn’t have a say when he simply can go talk to his rep and campaign for change the way ppl pushed to get Juneteenth and MLK Jr Day added. But that takes actually caring instead of just whining that you have to celebrate freedom and a distinguished Black American. Guess that’s too hard.

I will say, I knew of Juneteenth long before I knew what it actually was. If it was taught to me in school before I hit college, it must have been barely a mention. I absolutely knew it existed though.

I have never said I was excluded, I am simply stating it is not a fair system to all of us so govt holiday should be eliminated.

If they gave personal days or eliminated them all; then it would be entirely us to us to please ourselves, which is perfectly within the origins of the country to the pursuit of happiness.

Sorry, did not know about it; even though I spent a good amount of my teenage and young adult years in texas and my parents did live in galveston. You would think if I am what is implied here, I would know and regret it coming yearly; but know ones knows everything. I imagine many had to look up saint swithun’s day after reading it here and that has been around for over a thousand years and I would bet no one here knows that gold and silver are not of the earth, it actually came here from stars; so if you are a gold or silver bug; keep it; don’t sell; what the earth has now is all it will get; so whatever you have will only gain value over time.

Have you ever been forced to celebrate anything on those holidays? Are you forced to go to church on Sunday?
If not, you have a choice. This isn’t complicated.

I think this is the first time I’ve seen someone arguing from a holiday victimhood position and whining about too many holidays. But maybe jackboots show up at his door and force him to celebrate Thanksgiving or something. Weird stuff.

Maybe he really really wanted to work on labor day or something but they forced him to stay home by closing his job for the day.
Seems like the same type of argument of someone who thinks a person saying “Happy Holidays” is a “war on Christmas”.
