At least I didn’t have to use any of my own PTO, and the food was really good
8/10 would do it again

I absolutely don’t agree, I’m Jewish and I have a choice of what holidays I celebrate and how I celebrate them. I’ve also never had a problem getting time off for my holidays.
I’m more disturbed by this than anything else I’ve read in this thread.
Why would raisins ever be in potato salad in the first place?
This is America, bro. Love it or leave it.
He clearly needs help.
Hey if Boston Market can do it so can I! Although that might help explain why there’s no Boston Markets left
Those might not have been raisins. ![]()

Epic thread! Instant classic
sorry, no; it never occurred to me I was drawing that divide until you brought up that point. you keep inferring on me, won’t work; please feel free to go back and read what I actually wrote.
It is entirely about choice. If we abandoned all holidays by govt and then were allowed some allotment of days from the govt to take off on the days we wished, we would have choice.
Maybe you and some other get to take a day off that is not a federal or state holiday for religious reasons, i do not; i must use my own vacation days.
my sister and her fam don’t have the same, they use personal time.
There’s no “must” - that’s your choice. Nobody will force you to avail yourself of those rights, but you have them if and when you choose to exercise them.
Of course, this is all a false narrative to begin with, since you aren’t missing any religious holidays for work.
And even if this fantasy were true, if your religious celebrations aren’t important enough for you to use vacation days, then that’s another choice.
Look at all those choices you have.
I use PTO, but I still have a choice in how I observe my religious holidays. It doesn’t sound like they are any different.
The thread in a nutshell.

It seems the real solution here to make everyone happy is more paid holidays.

Your entire responses throughout this thread is about you drawing divides. You started with “don’t make me celebrate YOUR holidays and you don’t have to observe mine”. That’s what you wrote! Sooo how am I wrongly inferring what you’re saying??
Do you not understand how that statement is inherently divisive and exclusionary of others? Explain to us how we’re misinterpreting your words.
You can crawfish and gaslight all you want but your words make what you mean and feel clear as day.

dont make me observe your holdays and you dont have to observe mine.
[/quote] These are your words, it seems divisive.

OK folks, why don’t we try something different?
Suppose there are holidays that aren’t on your employer’s automatic holiday list.
Which ones do you celebrate, and do you have to put in PTO for them?
My wife and I both take PTO for Chinese New Year, as an example.
What say you?
Good Friday.
Well, at least who he claims to be
Rosh Hashana & Yom Kippor. Both come during tax season which makes it more difficult for me as I have to work extra to keep from falling behind on deadlines.
