Fertitta Picked As Ambassador to Italy

We may never get him back at UH, but the med school does
carry his name. On positive note , will this allow him to fund UH NIL things now ?

Why couldn’t he do that before?

I don’t know the NIL rules well enough to discuss. Maybe he could or couldn’t.
Originally NIL was not to be funded by the school, and as Ch BOR, there may be a
conflict ??? Just speculation on my part.

Yay upgrade in concessions!

I don’t think that’s really an issue. If it is, then Cody Campbell at Tech has ignored it in a big way.

Good point on Cody.

I wonder who our Governor will appoint to take his spot.

He can still write checks, right? RIGHT?

Congratulations to Tilman and his entire family. It is a great honor. To be an ambassador he had to resign from his leadership positions. Does that mean he won’t be involved with Landry’s and U of h? We all know that it is not in Tilman’s DNA to not be involved to some degree. He has been able and has had the intelligence to delegate and lead at the same time. I fully expect the same. His first name might not be on the invitations cards but you can be sure he will be in the know for every meaningful decision.
Indeed this now allows him to go NIL full press. Time will let us know soon enough if Mastro’s or any other Landry’s property will be sponsoring our sidelines.

So you do not think he will honor the ethics agreement he signed and federal law while he is Ambassador?

What do you think his future plans are?

I merged your new thread with this one, both the article you linked and this thread should answer your question. He’s going to be Ambassador to Italy.

Do you Dustin expect Tilman to be 100 disconnected from Landry’s and U of H?
How naive is this? Explain to us what is the ethics agreement that he signed and the federal law with it.
This reminds me of members of
that come in with little money but become $Millionaires and do not get caught from insider trading decisions.

Well, Chris, I expected it would be hard for him to disconnect. However I felt he would need to if he was going to take the Ambassador job seriously.

As far as the ethics agreement and the relevant federal law, that was all imbedded in the Chronicle article, had you read it. To make it easier for you, here it is

The relevant federal law is referenced throughout by code section.

I expect if this is the agreement he made, he’s going to stick to it.

He will still be involved with the Rockets, so he didn’t give up everything.

Plenty of ambassadors are still involved. Many not directly but they sure are indirectly. This is why you delegate.

Signed agreements are for suckers; nobody takes them seriously.
It’s all a ruse.

Boy that is a big one for UH; I get the feeling Renu may hang it up too in next 2-3 years after the Centennial. Hope the next person up has 9 figure net worth. No
clue who it could be.

Yea I feel the same

Buzbee, a UH law grad, once ran for Mayor of Houston so maybe he’d be interested.

Only problem is we need to make sure he wouldn’t help Texas A&M but hey, Tilman was a Red Raider before a Cougar but that didn’t matter.

I don’t see why he wouldn’t. He is an aggie.
