Fertitta Student Section

Our student attendance, seating location, and overall presence in the Fertitta Center needs a major overall. Look at TCU, Baylor, Tech, not to mention the huge arenas at BYU, Iowa State, Kansas, and Texas. On TV, their students are front and center, filling complete sections, and LOUD, LOUD, LOUD.

We need to put students behind the baskets.

Yes! That would be a start.

Our gym is plenty loud when full. Unless we’re just talking about aesthetics.

That’s what they ALWAYS say…

While we’re at it we also need to fill up the area behind our bench-the same area that always has empty seats—and is obvious on TV. Maybe those tickets can be donated to Coogfana’ members.

I think folks are missing the point. It is not about just being loud but about establishing the culture of a premier college basketball arena. That it is not. Why can it be not be built to be as hallowed as Kentucky etc. To do that you have to create a very strong student led, managed sections. It is a plural. Right now, it is an after thought.

We are 88-6 in the Fertitta Center. Can y’all get a grip?

We need to expand FC. Could easily do 10k

No they can’t. When they put all that exterior glass in, they removed a lot of the structural support. It can no longer be expanded. In Hofheinz’s original form, I was told back in the mid 70s that it could be expanded to.18,000 if we ever needed it.

We need to just move our games to The Summit

Agree. The student section should be made to be the loudest area of the arena that it could be. Teams get a huge boost from it.

Good. So, if they ever want to add down the line, they need to build new. There is plenty of space next door to Fertitta in the surface parking lot to build new. They could tear down Garrison gym next door and move that elsewhere and start from scratch. They could also have more room to add on to the development center.

That silent until 10 points thing is absolutely incredible.

We can do it too if our student leaders have a plan. SDSU has a great student section too. We got no excuses. Our house has to be so loud that our opponents get nervous. Home school advantage is there for our advantage.

I have just come to accept that we don’t have a united fanbase. We can’t do chants and coordinated things like this. Lol

Move the camera to the other side, presto problem solved

No we don’t this run of success won’t last forever, we went 20-30 years in an abyss, with just hundreds of fans, IF something happens and we start losing big our fans will disappear remember this is Houston, not Kansas or Nebraska or the Chicago cubs who sell out every game

The student leaders cut money to athletics to call them out for not using the money for student engagement and culture.

Basketball is killing it. Football was a lot of fun last semester. The rest sucked. This is a PhD student perspective who’s been here since Applewhite and in college since Herman. The new kids are going to be asking for a lot!

Of course we can but it has to be planned well ahead.
